Local news shopper article highlighting the cut backs to other services in the guise of improvements ...

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/b..._Orpington_and_Victoria_cut_in_new_timetable/
Commuters who travel on Southeastern trains between Orpington and London Victoria are being hit with a reduction in services.

Trains currently run between the two stations every 15 minutes for most of the week – but Southeastern will cut this to two an hour when its new timetable is introduced on May 20.

Southeastern insists there is no reduction in services from Orpington, and says the two discarded trains between Orpington and Victoria will be replaced with two more trains to London Blackfriars introduced by Thameslink.
Also of note Southeastern carried out their obligatory public consultation on their timetable changes but have never made public the result

Doesn't it just begin at Bromley South - so people of Kent House etc are not affected.

How many are travelling from Bickley and not swapping onto a fast at Bromley South? Petts Wood folk tend to use London Bridge-bound services.

The trade off for 2pth Petts Wood and Bickley slow to Victoria is an additional 2tph for many more stations on the Catford Loop, which are closer into London (i.e. stopping patterns hurt them less) and underserved overall. Nothing to see here...

The article also mentions the new two Thameslink trains an hour between Orpington and Kentish Town which will offer more journey options for travel into Central London. This is being conveniently overlooked by the faux-outrage brigade.

Changing at Bromley South onto a fast train is actually quicker than the direct train anyway.
