I’m curious to know how well the PIS systems can cope with this diversion.

-Can the onboard PA systems announce a destination of Waterloo?

- At Waterloo, can the station announcements say the SE stations the train is calling at?

- At SE stations, can the platform information and voices show and say “Waterloo”?

1. Yes as observed by me back in august

2. I don't think so. Not in the main part of the station anyway.

3. Yes as observed by me back in august and now at Tonbridge

2 surprises me as I'd have thought they just had one central set of announcements.
There's a clip somewhere of Phil Sayer announcing a slamdoor charter somewhere in DC land as Llanfairpwll!

Well at 14:41 they dried the disruption was expected u til 16:00. On Twitter SE are saying they don't know when the disruption will cease.

Would it not be better to put that in the disruption notice rather than adding am. Hour on each hour. At Keats this hour they did at 14:41 as opposed to 14:56, as they had done at 13:56 to sat disruption until 16:00.

I've spent time slowly wandering around Central London instead.
I know it's no good to you now, but did you consider asking someone at Waterloo if they'd let you travel to Orpington via Sevenoaks?

Given the disruption to all trains via Orpington I reckon that would be viewed as a reasonable route by a suitably friendly member of staff, particularly if you were already at Waterloo.

Signaling problem now fixed and disruption expected to last until 17:00.

The 15:57 did stop at Orpington but alas I wasn't on it. I didn't spot it was going to do that. All trains kept changing to cancelled anything up to 20 minutes prior to departure and when disruption was continuing until 16:00 and the inbound service wasn't stopping at Orpington, I paid less attention. I appreciate why they might suddenly cancel a stop at the last minute but equally I wasn't waiting around Waterloo station all afternoon, when there isn't so much to do there. I'd hung around that way long enough earlier in the day.

I was in Central London and getting back to Waterloo in time woild require me to know for certain 30 miniy s or more I'm advance the train would run. That kind of guarantee probably isn't possible during disruption.

I decided it was now to late, as I had other things to do tonight and didn't make my journey. I may do it Monday, depending on how I tired I am.

I hadn't thought of doing that. Let alone asking them. I generally don't like troubling people when out.

The disruption notice didn't give any details of how to get to Orpington. Perhaps they were expecting people to walk to Victoira. I have done from Victoria to Waterloo before, for the exercise and fun. It's only 25-30 minutes!

I had hoped to visit some shops whilst I was there. I'll PM you if I do decide to do it. I might do it on Monday.

The could do Sevenoaks but the £16 is putting me off as I won't be there for very long, given how late it is now getting.
Are you or anyone else interested in doing it with today or tomorrow?

The Hastings trains are being advertised as terminating at Tonbridge. But really they’re attaching to Ramsgate portions at Tonbridge and going on to Waterloo. Why aren’t they being advertised on the train planning apps/sites as dividing?

I thought this too, seems strange not to mention that the train will divide/attach and which part of the train one should be in.

Also, any reason why Hastings trains aren't being diverted to Victoria via Bromley South & Herne Hill this weekend, as was happening during the week.

Blackfriars is closed, so Victoria is having to squeeze in the entire southeastern network this weekend (except the 2tph to Waterloo)! I guess there just weren't enough train paths to run the Hastings trains through.

Oh no! Is Cannon Street closed as well then? Waterloo seem to cope running the entire southwestern network out of there. Lets see if southeastern can do as well this weekend

Yep, Cannon Street is also closed.

You’re right about the entire SWR network running from Waterloo, but remember Waterloo is a tad larger than Victoria (eastern), which is only 8 platforms!

I took a trip on these services yesterday. The on board PIS did mention that the train divided at Tonbridge, which part was going where and to make sure one was in the correct portion.

I only travelled as for as Orpington as I already had a pass that covered that journey. I noticed that the up and down timings were quite different presumably due to pathing issues. The down service took 43 mins whilst the up journey only took 33 mins.

I must say I was very impressed with the SE tains as I normally travel in SWR land and have often seen many posts unfavorably comparing the quality of the SE trains.

Networkers are grim but the 375s have some of the best interiors out there (and are generally well maintained).

Agreed, apart from the high density 3+2 375/9s where the only people who like those are families and idiots who can't go a minute without putting their dirty feet on the seat opposite. Networkers & the metro 376s can be grim.

I did the service yesterday on route for a little trip to Tonbridge, surprised there was a ticket check pretty soon after Tonbridge (although I guess that was more to do with ensuring passengers were in the correct part of the train as it split with the front unit carrying on to Ramsgate, the rear unit going to Hastings), but it was certainly a drag [I think looking at RTT it was pathed behind an all station stopper to Tonbridge]
