BBC News - Hinckley railway bridge sits top of 'most bashed' chart

I used to work right next to number 3 on the list.... we could tell by eye if a lorry was going to make it under... one hit with a JCB/Cat type digger which came off the back and made a small crater in the road....

another time a driver was effing and blinding about the height being wrong on the sign abd he knew how high his lorry was which he claimed was a foot lower than the sign said... so a traffic cop borrowed our ladder abd said if your lorry is the height you say I wont prosecute you for reckless/careless driving... and used his tape measure to measure the lorry... driver was wrong higher than the bridge height... so got done.. and charged by railway for delays....
