Hi. I got into a lift and saw two strange circles in the veins on my arm.

Does anyone know what these may be?

I’m 6 foot and very slim, potentially slightly underweight, I do work out, but I consume an admittedly probably dangerous amount of Red Bull. I hope there’s no link.

There is nothing unusual about the veins themselves being protruding. I’ve always had veiny arms. So has my dad before me. It’s just the circles I’m weirded out by.

This was yesterday and I can’t really see them anymore.

You shouldn't be posing such questions on a forum like this. Go and see a GP.

They look a little like varicose veins. But are more likely to be the valves that prevent backflow of blood down your arms.

I've seen that before (though not on me, I'm too fat to discern veins). Never occurred to me that they might be valves, but perhaps they are. I wouldn't be concerned, but if you are then as others said go see your doctor.

The blood pressure in veins is low and insufficient to oppose the force of gravity.

But are more likely to be the valves that prevent backflow of blood down your arms.
So the veins have valves to ensure that the blood flows towards the heart not back towards the capillaries.

The valves help the veins to overcome gravity and force the blood back to the heart, aided by micro movements in the muscles of your arms and legs.

I got into a lift and saw two strange circles in the veins on my arm.

This is particularly important when standing, and the gravitational forces can be further accentuated when travelling in a lift.

Is there a doctor in the house!?

No it doesn’t seem like it… Probably something to get checked out professionally then we feel. :)
