Can anyone tell me what vehicle types are used per route on Stuarts of Carluke services, particularly the 34A to/from Livingston and the 91 to/from Biggar?

Thanks.

Edit: Sorry for posting a new thread, this one didn't come up when I searched as the thread title/operator's name is spelled incorrectly (there should be no apostrophe in "Stuarts of Carluke"). Could the thread title be corrected so that other people can find it when searching?

Most of the time they use a Mercedes Benz Sprinter on the 34a to Livingston.

The new Volvo Evora’s that Stuart’s have received are excellent and are definitely more suited to the express services into Glasgow than the Enviro 200MMCs, however they are quite low on capacity during morning services with them often being standing only before Wishaw and completely full by Motherwell which isn’t ideal for going on the motorway. Is there any hope that these services could be swapped to larger buses or even an extra service or 2 during the morning period?

They of course could’ve ordered the 12m or even 12.9m version for the service, I’d call it a failure if capacity is an issue on these.

Yeah I definitely think it was short sighted to order the 10.8M version for delivery weeks before students travelling to Glasgow would be back in person for the first time in 2 years and with the added draw of free bus travel for under 22s. It’s at the stage where drivers are having to recommend getting the first X11 by Motherwell as it’s already full. It doesn’t require the capacity of a decker but the extra 10 or so seats of the 12 metre variants would be perfect.

There could be a variety of reasons for ordering this particular size of chassis. Lead time, price difference etc. In addition, the lead time from ordering to delivery can often be quite long, especially with imported chassis. The 10.8m's were probably ordered for what seemed the right reason at that time. I guess that's one of the hazards when purchasing new buses.

Whitelaw's went for the short wheel-based version too. How does the express service stack up against the train?

Not sure how busy the trains are but It’s roughly an hour end to end on both, bus stops are nearer to the universities though. I know a lot of the people I travel with started the semester getting the train but now they’ve got their bus pass they always get the bus. The short wheel base is definitely popular with the JMB having them too but when the service is only hourly (especially with a service gap between 7:55 and 9:45 at wishaw) it could do with a higher capacity.
