The SWR website reports "substantail rail damage" between Bournemouth and Southampton with trains unable to use the track in either direction. Sounds quite serious.

Rail & con rail deformed/damaged by arching/short circuit. Unknown as to why it occurred currently.

Of course an arc/short on a 750V line is basically a powerful welder so will cause a decent amount of damage (though welders are generally quite low voltage).
Seems to be bus acceptance around Bournemouth/Christchurch/Poole and replacement buses between Southampton and Bournemouth albeit not running to a timetable.
