Too strong for the couplers I'd say... one of the locs is probably not active, even if the panto is up.

If the panto is up the loc is active. You can even often see a double “Re10”, that is two Re420 and two Re620!

There’s no such thing as a “too strong” locomotive. It all depends on the wagons’ weight. Either the locos can haul the given weight or they can’t. The driver is given a theoretically calculated value in tonnes for each type of loc (depending on the maximum gradient), which represents “how much” each loc can haul. He then sums up his locos values, if the value is above the waggons weight (by no matter how much) everything’s fine, if not, you’ll need a bank engine...

I can confirm that all three locos were powering, and as I normally video all trains (camcorder on tripod, still camera in hand) I can confirm this after the day.

Here is a copy of the trip report to tally against the photos.

A short break in Switzerland: two days of freight chasing then a weekend in Geneva
Cargo sector loco number listing:
if I have listed the sighting with the loco’s old traditional number first and the computer number in brackets eg 11647 (620 047) then it is a loco with the traditional red livery but with the new computer number on the cab fronts (and the full UIC number on the lower body side)
If I have just listed a loco with the computer number (eg 421 379) then the loco is in full blue/red Cargo livery with all numbers in the computer style.
listings are shown as:
loco number then train type, then direction, then time, then road number (at larger or junction stations )
direction code: nbd = northbound, ebd = eastbound sbd = southbound wbd = westbound

In fact, this is less powerful than the old Re20/20 combination (2xRe6/6, 2x Re4/4) was. Nevertheless I was very pleased to see it!

.
A few years ago, I used to go to Spiez station to see the china clay train which goes loaded from Germany to Italy. It split at Thun and had 2 locos at the head and 2 locos at the rear of each half. This frequently produced 4 Re465s on one half rake of loaded wagons - 28MW. This arrangement was used not only to power the train over the Loetchberg mountain route but also for braking on the downhill into Brig using regenerative braking where the two halves of the train were rejoined for the final run into Italy.
