Hi, I don't suppose anybody has heard anything yet from SWT for the last Trainee Driver application that closed on April 19th?

Nothing here yet. That said apparently you have to live within 30mins of depot so that's my chances stuffed! I live an hour away!

Good luck!

Was wondering how you know that you have to live within 30 mins, didn't state that on the application form.
Also anyone heard anything back yet?

I think the time limit has been pushed up to 45 minutes. I know a lot of TOC's say an hour maximum.

It'll be a long drawn out procedure. The rail industry isn't known for it's speed when it comes to new intakes... plenty of threads on here to support my statement. Besides, it only closed a week or so ago. One things for sure, you wont be selected within a month..

I thought it was only qualified drivers advertised for recently?

Hi all.
I too applied for SWT mainline driver at Woking. Got the date for assessment day but had previously passed this and MMI with Southeastern last year.
Phoned up recruitment to tell them and they cancelled the days assessment and put me straight through to an interview in Southampton next month.
At Southeastern after passing assessment and MMI I then attended (and failed :() the DMI interview at the actual drivers depot that the job was based at.
Is this interview at Southampton I'm having with SWT a DMI or something different, is this the last step (apart from medical) in the process before a job offer is made or is there more to come?
At Southeastern the DMI seemed more interested in routes more than anything else, anyone with SWT driver experience shed some light on what SWT want to hear at this interview and what they don't.
Any information, tips, ideas and help for this interview will be gladly accepted and appreciated.
Thanks to all

I also passed all my assessments, onto the next stage. Very pleased to have got this far. Think it's the managers interview next. Time for some research to see what that covers!

The one at Southampton with SWT will be the DMI as you've passed the MMI. I doubt SWT would have you re-sit the MMI as you've already passed this. They might as well have you sit all assessments again if this was the case. As you probably know, the MMI is the competency based interview and is the 'important' one. The reason I quoted 'important' is because it's part of the initial assessment and therefore the two attempts rule applies as with the other assessments you have passed. The DMI interview is a standard interview and you can take as many as you need to of these (obviously you'd need to apply through the usual channels each time, but there's not limit).

Thanks Stigy. Research time!

I really need to get it right this time.
At the DMI will SWT be as eager as Southeastern was for me to know the routes (this was one of the reasons I failed), I assume they will be. How in depth shall I go with this, Should I know every station on every route from Woking or only certain ones? Will it be routes only FROM Woking or routes through Woking?
Another aspect I want to 'swot' up on is a day in the life of a (SWT) driver, the things I should be able to find out but not as in depth technically as an actual driver would know. (I assume this is another thing they would ask of an interviewee?)
What else can I expect, although i've done this once before I cant really remember much of what was asked. I did ask for feedback and the reasons given was the route knowledge and what a driver does. (i think!)
Im looking through the 'becoming a train driver' thread as we speak but any other pointers to threads or external sources and especially any 1st hand knowledge would be so appreciated.
Thanks in advance guys.

Was waiting on a DMI after passing the assessments. It was supposed to be sometime this month they told the ones who got through the assessments that day. I hadn't heard anything so gave them a call today to see what's going on and have been told all positions have been filled. Gutted! Still, at least I have the assessment pass to use later or elsewhere.

Already passed my assessments last year so went straight to DMI last week.
Failed :cry::cry::cry:
Have tried emailing for feedback but have heard nothing yet.
