So Today had two odd Tangara Workings One was a Tangara on it's own on the Olympic Park line??? Where are the Waratah's and S Set's?? i didn't think Tangara's could work alone after the Waterfall accident?? or is that an old wives tale

and the other one was a Double Tangara the rear one was T29 on a Lidcombe Service Via Sydenham! i heard Tangara's will be moved to T3 when the New Waratah's arrive but are they coming off T4 or T1??

All old wives tales.
T sets can work all lines on the network. The Illawarra/Eastern Suburbs line is exclusively T & H sets.
The Olympic Park & Carlingford lines get whatever carsets happen to be available from Flemington Depot. You can get anything on these services. Sometimes the working can be interesting.

All C and K Sets have been withdrawn due to Asbestos being found in area's where it should have been removed previously this has meant some very strange workings including the older S Set's working on Waratah diagrams i noted a diagram on the Liverpool line today that i know always gets a Waratah and it's been S Set the last 2 days

Also the New Waratah depot has been confirmed at Mortdale on the Cronulla Line so updated Waratahs for the T4 Line??

C & K sets continue to work over the network. They have NOT been withdrawn. They will continue to operate over the network for many years to come. They are subject to routine 5 year detailed inspections. These inspections are currently being carried out. There are NO concerns about asbestos.

There is a 30 year maintenance contract applicable to the A sets. A purpose designed maintenance centre was built at Auburn for them. All A sets are allocated here. A new contract has been issued for 24 more A sets. This is a delayed extension of the original contract. An additional contract has also been announced for more sets but has not yet been formalised as far as I know. Once these new sets are delivered in several years time some MAY be allocated to Illawarra/Eastern Suburbs line services. In which case some sets will probably be stabled overnight at Mortdale as sets currently are at other out depots. Mortdale cannot and will not be an A set maintenance facility.

Please do NO use the term Red Rattler. It is derogatory and incorrect. The term was coined for Melbourne trains.

There is a 4 car Heritage set available for special working. Another 2 cars should soon be added to the consist. It is my hope that further 2 or more cars may become available over the medium term.

They are used for special Heritage workings only. Never in revenue service.

All C and K Set's are withdrawn albeit temporarily except 4 units so your clearly out of the loop LEES with S Sets Oscars and Tangara's replacing them they have Asbestos inside them

The Term Red Rattler is the name used by both 7 and 9 the two main tv networks so i'll stick to it until i see an apology from them

I am NOT "out of the loop".

My information comes from people inside Sydney Trains who are in positions to know.

The C & K sets are currently undergoing their routine detailed inspections. Asbestos is NOT an issue of concern.

The C & K sets will continue in service for many more years.

The term "Red Rattler is NOT a Sydney reference. It was used to describe the Melbourne suburban "TAIT" class sets. Unwisely a Sydney Trains CEO used it on an occasion. It has never been a term used by Sydney Trains or its predecessors; nor by the Heritage Electric trains organisation; nor is it used by Transport Heritage NSW. It is a Melbourne term applicable to particular Melbourne carsets and has no relevance to Sydney. It is always unwise to rely on any media outlet for authority. They usually have everything wrong and twist reports to suit other ends.

I'll just leave this here then and the fact that less than 5% of the C/K stock is in service

Unfortunately, the Transport Heritage NSW website disagrees with you as well

3 Rakes of K Sets eg 24 Carriages noted at Hornsby sidings all with the drivers cab doors open on nearside and offside which seemed odd. There was also 12 Tangara Carriages including 2 units allocated to Mortdale and 3 A Class Waratah's one was Set 18

S Set's where out early on Liverpool T 3 Services today i put a Beanie on and a jumper after boarding the train it was that cold.

Currently onboard a Mount Victoria service that has come from Platform 18 and has originated at North Sydney which means it has come over the Sydney harbour bridge I have personally only seen the oscars go over the harbour bridge out of all nsw train link stock. Wonder if the xpts can go over the harbour bridge does anyone know?
