Hey all. Regarding the above point, where is it possible for trains to terminate on the West Anglia Main Line between Cambridge and Liverpool Street. Also, do the trains show these points as destinations (e.g will it say, “This is the service to …. ) ?

Bishop’s Stortford is the only place where trains are scheduled to terminate other than Cambridge, Stansted Airport, and Ely and it benefits from a 3rd platform enabling it to do. Broxbourne, Harlow Town have 4 platforms so I guess theoretically it would be possible to terminate there. All the stations north of Bishop’s Stortford only have 2 platforms until you get to Cambridge South, albeit there are loops north of Stansted Mountfitchet, south of Great Chesterford, and north of Whittlesford Parkway.

Down (Northbound): trains can stop and turn back at Tottenham Hale, Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Bishops Stortford and Audley End. While there are crossovers south of Harlow Town, there are no signalled moves over them to provide any kind of turnback move.

Up (Southbound): trains can turn back at Audley End, Bishops Stortford, Broxbourne (*), Cheshunt(*) and Tottenham Hale (*).
Locations marked with a (*) require the train to continue southbound until behind a shunt signal, then come back into the station.

Audley End was in use last weekend for interchange with rail replacement buses in association with engineering work for the new station at Cambridge South. Platform 1 (the up line) has been signalled for reversing moves since the Cambridge area signalling renewal of the early 1980s.

Waltham Cross is also used as an interchange with rail replacement buses. When this happens, do the trains run empty to Cheshunt to reverse? Waltham Cross has much better access for the buses than Cheshunt.

Tottenham Hale terminations have had to travel to Temple Mills Loop for reversal, quite a long shunt!

Sometimes, but it is possible to reverse just south of Tottenham Hale.

They operate to / from Cheshunt, is the normal method of operation.

I’m aware that there is are two crossovers at Brimsdown, are they in use at all?
Same as the Harlow Town crossovers. No signalled routes over them, but can be used for handsignalled/unsignalled moves or within a possession.

What about the crossovers at Harlow mill? It looks like there are signalled moves over them from the open train times map. And also great chesterford and whittlesford parkway

Some services that terminate at Waltham Cross during engineering start from P2 and run bang line to Brimsdown before crossing back. Confuses the normals at both Waltham Cross and Enfield Lock.

Freight movements over the crossover at Harlow Mill. Not aware of anything at the other two.

When the Cambridge Power Signal Box replaced the old mechanical signalling in the early 1980s these were required for freight at Whittlesford and Duxford. The freight used the speedlink network and finished a long time ago.
