As mistakenly reported in the Shortages thread instead of here, I believe 175003 has been stood down? Does this leave 009 the sole remaining /0 in service, or is 010 still bumbling about?

010 later went back to Chester with a 3 car set. I saw it in the centre line at Shrewsbury.

Ah ok. Wasn't showing that on the system. Presume was used as a rescue for the 3 car.

175010 can’t have been offed after all, as it appears to be working a Cardiff Holyhead service this evening (in lieu of 197014 which I’d been looking forward to getting <()

This means 175009/010 soldier on for now as the final remaining /0 operational, most likely until mid August.

TfW must assume both are mechanically fit to last until mid August?

175010 was in good health today, I rode in it from Cwmbran to Hereford (it had 175103 locked out of use on the back, stayed locked out even after Hereford so I'm not sure what was going on there.

175009 was seen working on a Carmarthen service, I have photos of it at Pontypool & New Inn. It also sounded like it was in good health, so they're carrying on yet! I swear I saw 175003 showing as working recently too? I don't remember if I went and saw it, I think I met my sister off it last week but I'm having a memory meltdown

Photos are on the phone, I'm posting on the laptop while my Mobile Command Centre is on charge.

The day of 175s ending passenger service is coming around rather fast now!

Yes 175003 was running last week and had a hasty demise. Rather sad, as the first /0 to get TfW livery.

What happened to it? I seem to remember definitely reading the number when I met her off the train as 175003, then seeing it work as a pair the next day heading north. Saw as in saw on RTT, not with the eyes.

Nothing major like an incident or damage I don’t think, they’ve just stopped it,

Are the stood down 175s now off lease, or do they remain on TfW's books?

Varies by unit 175003 is stood down in storage at Holyhead but not formally handed back. All other /0 units are at landore excluding 008 which is undergoing repairs with Alstom, 009 and 010 are still in use.

Of the /1 units I believe 111 is on books but is used as a parts donor so hasn't seen use all other units are on the books at moment I believe.

Now the Mobile Command Centre is suitably ready for use, and before I head out for some sunshine, here's some photos from yesterday including the /0s which are approaching their final days in service.

In order (the forum's doing its weird thing of uploading them in an incorrect order  ) of what's here:

1) 175108 approaches Pontypool & New Inn on the 1252 Cardiff Central-Manchester Piccadilly

2) 175009 departs Pontypool & New Inn with the 1130 Manchester Piccadilly-Carmarthen

3) 175010+175103 approach Cwmbran with the 1522 Cardiff Central-Holyhead

4) The best I could do in a hurry, with a coffee and decadent treat in the other hand, of 175010+175103 coupled together at Cwmbran

5) 175010+175103 at Hereford

6) Finally, 175009 at Pontypool & New Inn just after arriving on the 1130 Manchester Piccadilly-Carmarthen

It’s hard to understand what you’re saying from this wording, as it looks like you’re saying all are in use except 009/010 - when it’s actually the other way round.

175003 is stored at Holyhead ahead of hand-back
175008 is being repaired for hand-back
175009 and 175010 are the only two /0 still in use.

175001/002/004-007/011 are off lease at Landore/Crewe

175104/106 are not operational

There are 15/27 175s in service. 2x /0 and 13x /1.

I observed 009+010 together today on a Manchester-Milford Haven service (1242 from Hereford) while seeing my sister off. Wasn't expecting that!

107 is also at Gresty Green with 011 and has been for a few weeks.

Can't be 100% as not my area but don't think any have actually officially gone off lease and back to the leasing company yet.

Rumours elsewhere (with no source so won't bother linking them here) that 175003 will be moving to Landore then for scrap shortly.

I've seen the same post... I'm dubious to believe it though. I thought Angel were looking for a new lessor.

1. Weren't there also rumours of another TOC lined up for them?
2. Would TfW not be willing to lease them for a bit longer while they get 197s out in full?
The problem caused by 175 shortages hasn't gone away, it's just the standard now.

Landore is doing the end of lease maintenance, which is where the other units have already gone. If 175003 was to be scrapped then it would end up in Newport, unless they are stripping the parts in Landore first.
They'd be better off scrapping 008 instead if it was a parts donor they needed.

Are you sure about 001? It was with 104 and 106 at the end of Holyhead sidings yesterday. There was also a 4th unit next to the Voyagers which I assume was 003

Does anybody have the info of when 004 and 011 were stood down (approx. is obviously fine, not looking for exact dates) and where they both currently reside please?

Yes my bad it’s stood down at Holyhead awaiting hand back.

175102 is currently in the Bache down goods loop opposite Chester DMU depot. Very unusual to see a unit in there.

175004 in the yard at Chester this evening.

175101 is back out today for the first time in at least a week (I can’t see anything further than 7 days back) Possibly the first time it’s been out since it’s reforming?

It tagged along with 175113 on the 04:46 Chester - Crewe & 05:58 Crewe - Carmarthen as far as Cardiff and is now working solo on the 09:22 Cardiff - Holyhead, which has been delayed due to a fault on the train
