I’ve seen it reported elsewhere but not confirmed that the last original TGV SE sets introduced when the high speed line between Paris and Lyon opened in 1981 were withdrawn with last weekend’s timetable change. Not sure if this is true and perhaps the message has got lost due what else is going on, not least the on-going SNCF strike. If it is the case it is the end of an era and what was the beginning of widespread high speed rail operation in Europe.

Slightly related, but the contract for resignalling the original LGV-PSE Line has just been awarded too, to Hitachi. This will up capacity from 13 to 16 tph.
