I'm a tad curious about the demographic build up of the forums as its a topic that recently came up in another rail forum I tentatively follow and made me wonder about here.

I personally only know 1, maybe two members here so it might be an interesting survey to see the results of. :)

An age 0-10 option may be required; in this day and age you never know, I first started posting on forums when I was 9... ;)

Of course, this only captures one aspect of the demography of the forum.

Ooh this is interesting. It seems that most of us (who voted anyway) are relatively young.

I had always imagined the average age was 45 and that members were mostly staff on the railway, railway enthusiasts and train spotters.

A skew towards lower age ranges could be due to the fact that younger people are more at ease with modern technology and social media than the older generations?

I would say that often on the meets I tend to go on the average age is usually in the 20’s or 30’s. I’m 28 but there are plenty members much younger than me, for sure

Old enough to have helped develop the technology that I am now supposedly too old to use!

:'(If I'd did the pole in the middle of Jan, I'd of needed to go to the over 60's

On the bonus side my daughter is buying me a senior rail card for my 60th. :p:p:p

Goodness me you are all at least twice my age! You were all so lucky have been able to enjoy using the trains in your childhood when they were actually cheap.

Ha ha, some things were better, some things worse. I found the railways more interesting back in the 80's and 90's than they are now. On the other side I never had a mobile phone until I was in my twenties, now I have a phone in my pocket that is probably better than my laptop. When I was younger going abroad was a lot more complicated and expensive, Now I go abroad several times a year (And not just because I am working).
