The first episode has come and gone, your reactions people?

I bet the bloke who bought that vase for £175 realises he got ripped off by a bunch of spivs.

It's hard to pick out any favourites yet, but I kinda like Alana and Oliver, and "Big K" Karthik is totally awesome. Next week's episode looks a corker, whenever there's candidates breaking down in tears, and a seething Lord Sugar in the boardroom, you know it's gonna be good.

I think the right team won (not always the case) but it was possible to feel sorry for all 3 of the females brought back to the boardroom, in that none of them seemed particularly obnoxious and there was no obvious candidate for the sack. In that situation, the Project Manager can often get the chop and so it proved to be. Imo there are usually between 4 and 6 obnoxious candidates every series, plus of course any number of self-delusional types, and 3 or 4 who really do look impressive. Too early to sort the wheat from the chaff, but I've seen a couple I hope will get the order of the boot fairly promptly.

Bring back Margaret and Nick with Adrian Chiles on the follow up show - get rid of the pretenders

To be fired in the first few weeks you have to be really unlucky (or a losing team leader).

The biggest weakness in the show is that people from the winning team never get fired regardless of how poorly they may have performed in a task that results in ultimate success.

Firing anyone before three or four weeks assessment is a bit silly really.

I agree with most of that. Perhaps for the first three or four weeks the tasks could be done by four teams, then down to three teams for another couple of weeks. It is impossible to assess the contributions of some of the participants, particularly in the winning team. Still, it's only an entertainment, which some of them would do well to remember.

I think a lot of the candidates got off easy this week, whilst the fired candidate probably wasn't my top choice to send home (although I'm sure she won't be missed!).

Bearing in mind six people were brought back rather than the usual three it was strange only one got the order of the boot. One of the men should have been shown the door too - Karthik (?) surely can't last, he's insufferable.

He'll definitely be out as soon as he's next brought back to the boardroom. Either that, or he'll be the person who mysteriously transforms into a great person (ie. stops being a dickhead), and makes the final 2.

I also love it when Lord Sugar rocks up at places very very loosely related to tasks to announce them, a hypothetical example :

"Well here we are at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and for this weeks task you're going to be producing hot dogs"

I'd have fired the two team leaders to start with. And would have been quite keen to get rid of Dillon if he'd been brought back.

Rebecca's the only one so far that's standing out above the rest. She's the only one I'd deem to be even borderline competent.

My wife stuck with Hunted, but then that's very much her thing - she reviews crime/mystery novels and likes many of the European TV crime series too. She regards The Apprentice as déclassé, not that she's ever watched it

Correct decision to fire Oliver this week , he was useless as a Team Leader.

I'm astounded as to how bad this lot of candidates are. I think they're actually worse than the 2014 lot (who were all abysmal apart from Roisin, she should have won :cry: ). At least last year's candidates were mostly creditable and competent, Elle aside.

That being said, I felt bad for Oliver, but it was clear from his body language and lack of confidence that he was way out of his depth. There's still a couple of candidates I've seen barely anything of so far.

Also, JD favourited a tweet of mine where I said he'd eat all the sweets if he wasn't supervised. Not sure how to react to this.

Overall a surprisingly good performance from both teams this week - however, whilst I think Lord Sugar would have ended up firing Mukai at some point anyway, the failure of this particular task I would mostly put down to Grainne as project manager.

Makai shouldn't have gone this week. He should have gone two weeks ago. Given that he was somehow still there, it was mostly his choices that led to the failure of the task.

It was one of those tasks where there wasn't a particular losing team as such, do people really randomly stroll into fancy London shops every day of the week to buy 600 quid scarves? I'm clearly in the wrong job!

This episode highlighted how alien the snobs in London are, even to snobs elsewhere. Really stupid prices, but they got so much it doesn't matter to them.

At first I thought the woman who left the process at the start was a coward, after watching another dull Apprentice You're Fired, I realize I was wrong, the one who was sacked never even turned up to the show, what a chicken!

The correct one was sacked, he only sold one bag, he could easily have added a 5p to improve his record.

If you watch early incarnations Sugar is not as abrasive or abusive as he used to be which detracts from the enjoyment.

Personally, I don't think it had anything to do with the failure of the task. Even with 6 people on the losing team, they still had people sitting around in the shop floor doing nothing. Makai deserved to go, he was slimy, his handbag idea was poor and he did very selling.

It might have freed a member of the team to do what Liberty had recommended and spend some time with the window display. One more handbag sale would have done it. Anyway, would you pit a team of eleven footballers against a team of nine footballers of equal standing and expect a fair contest?

Even if it was equal teams they still gave one team a client with a £5k budget and the other team one with a £600 budget which hardly seems fair.
