Iam trying to work out how tio get to this Railway but yet different web sites tell me different things ie.Traveline West Midlands Say :-

Walk in a south-westerly direction along Bond Street
After 225yds, continue into A444
After 130yds, continue into Bond Gate
After 90yds, turn left into Wheat Street
After 100yds arrive at CV130WB, Market Bosworth, Nuneaton

When you put in both post codes ie,

Nuneaton Station CV11 4BU

Battlefeild lIne Gates CV13 0BS

and goole maps say :-

A444
11.2 mi

Which is right ?

The directions you give relate to getting to Shenton which is the Nuneaton end of the line.

The nearest A road is the A444, and there are various exits from that via small country lanes to either Shenton or Shackerstone itself.

I used to volunteer at the railway to get to Shackerstone (the main base of the railway) and the quickest way for me was as follows (approaching from the A42 northerly direction):

Aim for Twycross village.
There is a farm machinery dealership (Startin Tractors)at an island.
Take the first exit left (Ashby Lane)
Immediately turn right at the first junction (Bilstone Rd)
follow this road for about 2 miles until you come to the hamlet of Bilstone.
follow the road right at a 90 degree bend. (Main Road)
turn left at the next T junction which takes you onto Bilstone Road.
Follow this road to the next junction where you take a left into the village of Congerstone. (Main Street)
Follow this road for a couple of miles and you will pass through Congerstone village, over a canal bridge and past the local village school.
eventually you will enter the village of Shackerstone.
Carry on until you and you will go past a very tight corner and small canal bridge.
The next bridge goes over the drive to the railway.
Once over the railway drive turn immediately left and left again.
This will take you on the old trackbed and eventually to Shackerstone station and North end yard.

Here is a map from the A444 to Shack as described above.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Getting there by public transport is a nightmare. Unless anybody knows differently, the nearest you can get to it by bus is the 153 service from Leicester to Market Bosworth (usually xx25 past the hour) which passes a small village called Barton-in-the-Beans, about 1.5 miles from Shackerstone station. There is no point in taking the bus all the way to Market Bosworth (unless you intend to view the demic shunters stored there). On the Saturday of most diesel galas there is a connecting bus from Nuneaton.
