4 cylinders make a nicer sound than "wuffity wuffity wuffity" therefore the extra water consumption is justified!

I just look forward to seeing something that isn't SR!

Theres nothing wrong with the turntable, its due to engineering works elsewhere thats made it out of gauge

Is this loco not banned West Of Salisbury due to gauging issues?

Re the Duchess, I'm advised that it's not the weight, but a gauging problem with a bridge on the up side
between Sherborne and Templecombe. Apparently, recent tamping has left the up side line higher than the down. The loco could go down but it couldn't get back as the dual directional working is catered for on the up line only. Something referred to technically as sod's law, I believe.

Here's the two pics I got of the train, unfortunately when I tried to get a front end view, I had the camera switched off and quickly turned it on and pressed the button in rapid succession, so the focus came out terrible. I was able (in between looking on in awe at the engine) to get shots of the Duchess going under Chertsey footbridge, closely followed by 57 "Sheila".

A selection of my shots of 6233 passing Worting Junction, and 57601 on the rear.

Apologies that these photos aren't quite as good as they could've been, this is due to still being on Auto mode with my new camera and probably standing in the wrong place.

Where's that? Don't recognise it unless they've done some building work in the 3 years since I've been away from the W.O.E. line.

Engines and stock still in the yard at Clapham this morning - although the Duchess was alongside facing towards W'loo.

Thanks everyone for your support and excellent phots for the Cuneo Centennal.
The train didn't consist of any Mk1's apart from the Support Coach, the standard class being Mk2's ;)

Anyway, the stock, I believe will be headng back to Carnforth today and the Duchess and Support Coach will be returning to our shed at Swanwick ready for me to clean it tomorrow.

The people who made it happen.
6233 owners and operators PMR Tours pose next to the train at Yeovil Junction. (I'm on the extreme left of the pic.)

Where's that?

New(ish) Park N Ride at Salisbury between and opposite the BP garage and the two railway bridges at Bishopdown. Laverstock is in the distance, and the signal with feathers controls the entrance to the Laverstock Loop at Laverstock North Junction I think it is. Train is therefore running Up in the Andover direction.

Aha! Thanks. Last I saw it was a field with a burnt out Citroen and gypsy caravans (not burnt out).

Seen it developed from a field into what you see plus the shelter with bus layby. However why on earth did they not put a station there? The BREWSTER'S, i.e. the Bishopsdown, is now a Brewer's Fayre again. The pic with the 3-door silver car in it shows the train headed for the arched railway bridge a 100 yards south of the pub/restaurant.

O.V.S. Bulleid forever!

I know this is totally off-topic but in the pix of Worting Junction are two #-overs from the Up-Down Fast and Down-Up Fast respectively. I gathered from another post that the Down Fast (at least) is now reversible as it is dual-signalled? The evidence was in the photo of an Up Virgin X-Country by-passing a SWT 159 train and also a EWS? train on the Up Slow, which had stopped after passing a red and thus causing an overlap problem.

Also, more on-topic, the loco turned round via Salisbury Tunnel Junction- Laverstock South Jn-Lavestock Loop-Laverstock North Jn (to the right of the signal with feathers). All this I can imagine was signalled except for the reversal from the Down Romsey I think it is called back towards the South Jn. Is there a signalled movement at that Junction?
