You turn to provde clues again then I believe, Robinson. I did wonder about the Fairfield / Gorton thing when I posted Ardwick. A good set, cheers.

According to Wikipedia it did have 6 platforms. No train calling at Fairfield technically calls at all stations as they all skip Gorton at least.

I will be very busy for most of tomorrow and can't count on being available to check back, so I'm going to leave it as an open floor.

I see the floor is *still* available? I shall be claiming (even if anyone objects ).

Clue 1: I am a station of more than two but less than six platforms.

Your deduction is correct, but your choice is not.

Clue 3: All manner of services - terminating, calling and non-stopping - exist here

Clue 4: Under normal circumstances, all services at this station serve precisely one of London Euston and Birmingham New Street on their journey

Clue 5: This station has a suffix that is not seen outside of the local area

(Bad luck to clagmonster on choosing Rugeley! ;))

The only reason I can think of for a penalty is the wiring - but that is OK by me.
I thought there may be a Trent Valley stopper which doesn't reach Euston (perhaps a Rugby or Northampton terminator), thus serving neither Euston or New Street.

Lichfield Trent Valley?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I lose 3 points due to the 30 second rule I believe.

There probably is during the start/end of service, but this doesn't really count as "normal circumstances". I take your point though.

Litchfield Trent Valley?

No, but "Lichfield Trent Valley" is correct though ;)

[/pedant]

Andrew's turn. I'm signing off for the night.

What 30 second rule? Duplicating an answer is a penalty though...

There is a forum rule that you must allow 30 seconds between posts. I made my response about why I thought I may lose points for Rugeley, but the forums prevented me from submitting Lichfield due to this rule, therefore Andrew managed to sneak in. However, as you have noticed a spelling mistake in Andrew's answer, I'm going to appeal the points penalty as Andrew technically gave a wrong answer!

In any case, I'll take the floor.
Clue 1: This station is in Great Britain.

Clue 2:
This station is served exclusively by trains built / assembled in Great Britain.

Derby is served by Belgian Voyagers (only some were assembled in Wakefield).

Clue 3:
This station is served by only one TOC (a couple of years ago, you would have been able to think laterally to come up with more than one valid interpretation of this).

In that case you will not be penalised. Losing is enough of a penalty - and since the source of the problem was outside of the thread's jurisdiction it would not be fair to deduct any more.

For future cases any instances of duplicate answers due to the forum's 30-second rule will not cause penalties where said penalty can be proven.

Your Clue 1 is inadequate. All stations in this game are in Great Britain. (Northern Ireland will not be permitted.)

Allowed on a self-inflicted technicality!

I believe you told me in a different thread that Great Brittain is an island. Therefore, it does not include the likes of the Isle of Wight or Anglesea. Therefore it eliminates a small number of stations on BR.
