Apologies if this has been explained before but what exactly does the Unite strike entail?

EMR are quite badly affected on Friday and Saturday (2nd and 3rd) with nothing running East of Nottingham on both days and several curtailments elsewhere.
However, other TOCs don't even mention it on their sites, I'm hoping to travel by XC and LNWR on Saturday and they make no reference to it at all.

How come it affects EMR severely but other operators apparently not at all?

The Unite dispute is only with EMR - from the last set of strikes:

https://www.unitetheunion.org/news-...ands-workers-announce-strike-action-over-pay/

Workers at train company Abellio East Midlands will begin strike action this week after the company refused to make any pay offer to its members.

Over 140 workers, who are members of Unite, the UK’s leading union, will begin a 48-hour strike on Thursday 6 October, followed by a further 48-hour strike beginning on Monday 17 October.

I believe it involves some maintenance staff

I believe it is the fuellers and possibly the prep techs/ fitters.
From the Unite link I posted earlier

The workers – based at depots in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham and employed as cleaners, technicians, shunters, engineers, inspectors, lathe operators, team leaders and supervisors – recorded an 84 per cent vote in favour of industrial action.

No EMR trains to Lincoln on Friday and Saturday for the Christmas Market. These are are usually the busiest 2 days of the year for EMR routes into Lincoln especially from Nottingham where additional trains are often run.

I would imagine one of the reasons Unite chose these days.
