Hi guys, hope someone can help...

When I lived in the North East, it struck me as crazy the Metro never went to the MetroCentre- and it still does :D

Anyway, the journey I want to make is from Heworth Park and ride to the Metro centre, from there to Sunderland and then back to Heworth. What ticket do I need for this? On the Nexus website it states a Metro day ticket is valid on metro, trains and ferry. but it doesn't specify which trains.

Is that the ticket I need for this, or is it not valid on the rail line from Newcastle Central to the MetroCentre?

I agree that the Nexus website is never the easiest to use, but I think it makes it clear that Nexus day tickets give mainline rail validity only between Newcastle and Sunderland.

So I think that you need a Heworth-Metrocentre day return (£4.60 offpeak, i.e. for departures after 9am in this case) and a Heworth-Sunderland day return (£3.60 anytime of the day).

I agree that the £6.90 Day Rover suggested by stut is bettter.

I think that you need a Heworth-Metrocentre day return (£4.60 offpeak, i.e. for departures after 9am in this case) and a Heworth-Sunderland day return (£3.60 anytime of the day).
It seems to me that the £8.20 cost can be reduced to £7.20 by buying

I am more than happy to have had my suggestion improved upon, and will bear the NetworkOne Day Rover in mind for personal use in the future: as I say, I never find the Nexus website easy to use, although have now managed to track down its link to the Day Rover.

Thanks guys. No doubt when I go on the Nexus site tonight I will see the bit about only valid from Sunderland to Newcastle first time :D

But yeah the day rover sounds fine for my purposes :)

Yep the Day Rover is the best option however must be purchased on the Metro ticket machines at Heworth or from a bus driver prior. They are currently not on Avantix due to someone somewhere screwing up at price increase time
