Prompted by a sign at Paddington saying that Heathrow Express tickets were not valid on the Heathrow Connect stoppers now run by TFL Rail, I checked National Rail Enquiries.
It's bizarre. There's a cheaper ticket not valid on Heathrow Express as one might expect. The Heathrow Express ticket is getting on for twice the price and indeed is not valid on TFL Rail. At a modest premium to the Connect ticket and valid on both services is the Travelcard. Thus the Travelcard undercuts the Express fare by a considerable margin and adds validity on Connect.
Or at least that's what National Rail enquiries says if you input a single journey from Paddington to Heathrow at an off peak time.
