I have just read this on SWRG.

Code:
I understand that 143's are indeed planned for Barnstaple-Exmouth-Paignton
circuit, but not in Cornwall.Also,Portsmouth-PZ and SW trains west of Exeter
finishing---so get 'em in while you can! tony w

So to summarise it says:
*143s on PGN>EXM Shuttles and Barny Line
*SWT to stop going west of EXD
*The PHH > PNZ services are stopping?

Any idea if any of this is true? I would be shocked to see the SWT 159s stopped west of ESD! And they better not put those bloody pacers down here!

The SWT bit is correct i think. It's all to do with focussing on they're core service
Also the Penzance to Portsmouth and Portsmouth to Penzance service used to be delayed everyday, but thats back in the dark days when i worked for SWT.
It used to arrive as part of a 4 car, attaching and detaching at Westbury. I know it was supposed to form the 14:24 away from Portsmouth Harbour but if it arrived before 14:10 it was a good day.

The Penzance- Portsmouth trains are to be axed, making the only trains between Castle Cary and Taunton the semi fast HST sets, which looking at the present timetables are not very frequent!

The path in which the PNZ-Pompey trains run will taken over by Voyagers (which will be extended from BTM) to have more through SW-NW journeys.

As for the SWT Exeter line, there is talk of increasing the service on the line to once an hour, This will be achieved by more passing loops notably re-instating the other platform at Axminster.

I think a good thing to do with the SWT exeter bit would be to double it from Pinhoe, all the way up to where it is currently double. As i believe it was singled during the days of BR.
