Hello all,

Just looking on Google Maps of walking along the D1 to the end of the runway at Toulouse, and I'm not sure if the bit by the side of road under the bridges is a pavement or not?

Here's the street view shot

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@43.6...4!1stDP6oL2MGhwVt7yWbFOBoQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

The bit on the right, is it safe to say I could walk along it?? I tried to get a walking route on Google Maps from the Airport to the spot the other side of the bridges that carry the old taxiway, and the walking route avoids the D1 and sends me all round the Airbus Factory which takes hours. But looking at Streetview it looks like a pavement, but I don't want to find out it's for bikes only and get fined or something

Any help appreciated!

It's a cycleway. Follow the road back to the roundabout and you will see painted arrows with a centreline. The other roundabout has a pedestrian crossing sign on it. Easy when you look.

Oh yes, I see the sign now :(

I see there's a pedestrian crossing sign just past the cycleway as you say, but I guess walking further down on the cycleway is a no-no I take it?

(Not been to France, not up to scratch with what you can/can't do!)

Pedestrians are perfectly fine to walk on the cycle path there, just stay on the far side fun the road, and you'll be fine.

I agree with the other replies that the image shows a combined cycle and pedestrian way. You will not be fined for walking on it.

However, it is just conceivable that, being so close to an operational airport, that you will attract the attention of airport security or the gendarmerie, who may want to speak with you to establish why you are walking in such an unlikely place - just possible.

Thanks guys most appreciated!

Further down is a known spotting point, and a mound that overlooks the airbus factory, hopefully wearing my Airbus T-Shirt and camera will give a clue, or I could be evil and wear my Boeing Dreamliner shirt <(
