What is happening at Wolverton to them?
Wouldn't surprise me if they are heading there for storage. That's what Wolverton gets used for mostly these days.
What is happening at Wolverton to them?
68025/TP07Thanks for the following.
How long has TP07 been at Gascoigne Wood ?. Bit surprised with that - should I not be ?.
That isn't unexpected though - RTT says it was 68023 and set TP09.One of the sets just passed me on 1U71 1730 Manchester Piccadilly to Scarborough. No idea which set or loco, as I was on the 185 on the Leeds to Huddersfield stopper.
RTT wasn't showing allocations for me, just the formation (in the wrong direction). Didn't think it was unexpected, but there was no mention of it today (just talk of movements to Wolverton) so thought it might be of use for anyone who was wanting to get one for sight or haulage. That isn't unexpected though - RTT says it was 68023 and set TP09.

Ah I see. Hope for TP07 to come out to play later in the season I suppose.68025/TP07

There’s limited space at Longsight and with TP01/TP05 (plus now TP10) taking up three of those spaces, some perfectly serviceable sets have been moved off Longsight.
FYI - The below was posted earlier today (further up the thread, just before the replies about Wolverton). TP09 started off on the 11:35 MAN-SCA (1U47). Its a useful list. According to my spreadsheet the set of workings is Piccadilly 1U47, Scarborough 1U60, Piccadilly 1U71 then Scarborough 5U71 to Scarborough TMD for the night.RTT wasn't showing allocations for me, just the formation (in the wrong direction). Where’s longsight station? Never heard of itGiven today’s cancellations, treat with caution, but it looks like there maybe an additional diagram for Sunday. If it does work then I think this would be the first Nova 3 in passenger service at Manchester Airport. As always, no inside knowledge, so any confirmation much appreciated.

Longsight is a depot, not a station.Where’s longsight station? Never heard of it
Haha! Thankyou.Longsight is a depot, not a station.
The (closed) Longsight station was located next to Longsight TMD, which is still operationalWhere’s longsight station? Never heard of it
When was this operational. My farther lived in nearby belle vue and commuted frequently. Could he have used it?The (closed) Longsight station was located next to Longsight TMD, which is still operational
Yes, what's more around the Wheelathe area, you can see the old existing platforms, just past the road overbridge, next to the road, which serves Asdas. The (closed) Longsight station was located next to Longsight TMD, which is still operational
Yes, by ‘active’ I meant exactly as you have it, immediately useable or useable after normal periodic exams. Thanks very much. Much appreciated.
Questions -
I take it Active Sets means immediately usable ?.
Is that only two active at Longsight ?.
Is TP07 at Gascoigne Wood an active set ?.
Sub question - anyone know how visible is TP07 at Gascoigne wood ?.
As others have said Longsight is the home Depot for the TPE Mk5s & 68s.Where’s longsight station? Never heard of it
Thanks. I feared Gascoigne Wood would be hard to get at.Yes, by ‘active’ I meant exactly as you have it, immediately useable or useable after normal periodic exams.
TP07 at Gascoigne Wood I wouldn’t classify as ‘active’ in that sense, since it would need to be transferred to Longsight and then made ready for service.
I’m not sure about visibility at Gascoigne Wood. From observations of sets there in the past, it has usually been possible to see the loco/DT but only poking out from behind stored wagons/EMUs.
This list had, as of 20 September, TP04, TP08 and TP11 stored in Crewe South Yard with no 68s attached. Is it known if these sets are now permanently withdrawn? For anyone interested in where locos/sets are, status at 12:00, info given in good faith.

Longsight station remained in use as a staff halt long after closure. I'm not sure when this stopped (if it as).
Yes, if you want to see them in service.Would York still be the best place to see the Transpennine Cats before they finish?
Thank you Jonathan, Ill probably nip over tomorrow then.Yes, if you want to see them in service.
Longsight has a maximum of seven berths available to Class 68/Mk5A sets, currently Crewe South Yard and Gascoigne Wood are stabling points for sets not required in traffic. This list had, as of 20 September, TP04, TP08 and TP11 stored in Crewe South Yard with no 68s attached. RTT shows no moves between Crewe South Yard and Longsight in the last week.
In the past when sets have been stabled at Gascoigne Wood, they have usually made their way back to Longsight within a month in order that loco/stock exams don’t become overdue. So TP07 is not unhealthy enough to fail to be used in service sometime between now and December 2023
Saturday is usually a good day with the majority of trains between York and Scarborough diagrammed for Class 68/Mk5A sets.Thank you Jonathan, Ill probably nip over tomorrow then.
TP10 has reappeared? That must be the first time in a while.68030/TP10
Yes, its previous working was on 28.08.2023 and it had been at Longsight since then.TP10 has reappeared? That must be the first time in a while.
Thank you very much, so kind of you, cheersLongsight has a maximum of seven berths available to Class 68/Mk5A sets, currently Crewe South Yard and Gascoigne Wood are stabling points for sets not required in traffic.
As I understand it, TP04/08/11 are at Crewe South Yard as part of the usual rotation of sets. Over the past two years it hasn’t been unusual to see sets there without a loco attached.
Hope that helps

No guarantees, but given 68025/TP07 arrived on 04.09.2023, they might well be in traffic again from early October.
Saturday is usually a good day with the majority of trains between York and Scarborough diagrammed for Class 68/Mk5A sets.
There will unfortunately be some substitutions on 23.09.2023 since rather than the booked three sets overnight at Scarborough there will only be the following available for traffic:
68023/TP09
68030/TP10
There should be a third set working on to the branch via 1P05 0242 Longsight-York.
I’ve attached a timetable showing all services for the day, with those booked for Class 185 shaded in grey (Edit: apologies I should have also shaded 1U31).
Hope you have a great day
You are very welcome.Thank you very much, so kind of you, cheers
I’m delighted you found them helpful. Thanks for posting such a helpful overview of the diagrams. Are Saturdays going forward to December likely to be similar for 68 useage?
And do they work a Sundays?
