Don't TPE use ROG for some of the stock moves to storage locations like Crewe/Gascoinge Wood, I presume they will make stock moves and any "Warm Storage" moves required before the May 2024 handback? There should still be some opportunities to see the sets moving around post Dec 9th.

I agree but won't be riding on them !.

Also I doubt it will be warm storage - I was surprised to learn up thread that no locos or shore supply have been left attached at Crewe or Gascoigne Wood of late (since Spring 2023 or earlier).

The ever reliable 68’s strike again:

68029 (TP12) has been declared a failure and is stuck between Ashburys and Gorton station this morning whilst working 1U29

According to RTT, 1U29 sat down for over two hours and eventually tipped out its passengers at Guide Bridge at 0913, 2h37 later than the time it was scheduled to pass through.

Meanwhile it caused cancellation of all the Northern morning peak services on the Hadfield/Glossop line. It appears the TPE Huddersfield stoppers were diverted via the Ordsall Chord and Victoria. I should think Northern will be glad to see the back of the 68s!

LSL 37521 is hauling the failed set from Staylebridge to Longsight, as 5H29.

Not worth a new thread, but RTT shows a 9-car 185 formation on Hull-Liverpool working through Leeds at around 5pm today, is that genuine and is it a regular occurrence?

Disruption caused by a broken rail causing lots of Set swaps, will be a 3 or a 6 car.

If it were possible, perhaps the units and TOC wouldn't have become so (dis)reputable for overcrowding over the years

What did the passengers do for onward transport?

Train moved forward to Staylebridge after being stationary for nearly 2 hours, with 7 customers on board, presumably they boarded alternative services forward from there.

Interesting context from the driver in the attached screenshot

Today’s farce was courtesy of 68029 deciding it was a bit warm. After a late departure, due issues on shed with another train, 1U29 the 06.27 to York departed Manchester 26 down, and was following a Rose Hill service.
Passing Ardwick an alarm sounded which I had to cancel, and a warning told me that I was now running on reduced power. I was still coasting, so wasn’t sure what to expect. I now passed through Ashburys before trying for power, and getting none! A reset was tried but I had to declare the train a failure.
Freightliner eventually sent 66523 to clear the line, but that was only to Stalybridge. We would eventually have LSL’s 37521, running as D6817 sent from Crewe to get us back to Longsight. I was more stunned when the crew told me that 40013, running as D213 was nearly sent out to recover us, rather than the 37.

RTT shows 185137 ran ECS from Piccadilly to Stalybridge via Victoria as VSTP working 5E67. It then departed for Huddersfield at 0936 as 2E67, but only went as far as Slaithwaite, presumably because of the broken rail chaos, before returning from Marsden as 2M66. The next eastbound service from Stalybridge was 1P21 to Leeds (cancelled between Leeds and York) at 1206 (75L). If any of those 7 passengers waited that long, after originally departing Piccadilly 26L at 0653, they must have wished they had stayed in bed!

If anyone has any knowledge of what 68 services will actually run through the core on Monday, that would be greatly appreciated :)

The week coming will probably be a damp squib for a 68 “farewell”.
We thought that about the Cleethorpes 68’s, but they did okay with those at the end.

With no overtime it relies on all parts of a diagram being covered. This isn't usually planned until the evening before.

There was rest day working in place for the end of the Cleethorpes diagram, which helped it run most days. With ASOS from now until the 9th, sadly the Nova 3s will not necessarily get the same send off.

Hopefully some 68s run tomorrow then!

Looks like just one of the core pennine sets are out today. The other has no train crew.

Anyone who has left it until the last week to have a bash is a fool. It was widely reported accross forums and social media that the week of the overtime ban would be a farce. I thankfully enjoyed my last run on Tuesday with 68030, totally veg-free.
