As for being “returned as received” which I have also heard, they were never delivered as useable as they have had numerous mods to try and make them them work! So do CAF undo the mods! It might be more to do with exam work.
Entirely depends on the contract wording. It is certainly common (if seemingly bizarre) practice in the airline industry when handing back long term leased aircraft.

TP07 TP08 TP10 x3, undergoing debranding still, these x3 most likely still to return to Longsight for further works TBA.

Add to that 12802 - I believe at Long Marston.
Remembering that set TP02 has 12814 (the "spare" driving coach) in it instead of 12802.

1. 5Q94 0858 Longsight tmd to Long Marston as reported on Old rail record Website to be formed of 68023 and unbranded set TP12 back to Long Marston.
2. Also reported was on Tuesday 09th July 2024:
5Q32 1534 Long Marston to Longsight tmd 68023 taking set TP02 back to Longsight Tmd, also on old rail record website. Does anyone kindy know if set TP02 is unbranded please.

Yes, thank you, 12802 is a solo spare.
Being at Long Marston 12802 might now be unbranded or in the process of being unbranded - anyone know ?. That is assuming 12802 ever was branded - because it dropped out of use very early in the proceedings, possibly before acceptance.

Observation through Northfield saw

Observation through Sandbach on time.
5Q32 1015 Crewe South Yard to Longsight Tmd
68029 with set unbranded TP03 back to Longsight Tmd for servicing and final handback prior to returning to Long Marston.

Most likely from today will see no.more sets stored at Crewe South Yard.
Unless another fails on move back to Long Marston like this one did back in April with the Same locomotive at Stafford and was rescued by a class 57,

Also this set Unbranded TP03 has spent the most time away before returning back to Long Marston, which was back in February 2024, six months and counting.

Friday 06th September 2024
0915 0915 0Z90 Crewe Gresty Bridge to Long Marston again 68026 top n tailed with 68027, taking 68020 68031 68022 to Store Long Marston.
1440 0Z91 Long Marston to Leicester LIp
68026 68027, at Leicester but still in use.

It appears 68026 68027 68023 68029 are still a handful of the ex Transpennie locos still on lease to move the Mk5 sets around still between Long Marston and Longsight

It appears 68020 68022 68028 68030 68031 68032 are now in store at Long Marston handed back to Beacon Rail, with Mk5 sets

However the the current status of 68019, 68021 68024, 68025 I believe are at Carlisle awaiting handback, final service, but any further information would be much appreciated.

5Q42 1544 Long Marston to Longsight Tmd saw 68023, back after a b exam at Crewe take set Unbranded TP04 back to Longsight Tmd for a second time for further exam and handback checks.
So at Longsight is 68023 68029 blue livery
Unbranded sets TP03 TP04 TP06 undergoing further handback checks.

I thought the lease ended in June 2024?.
If not then what is the status of 12802 - the spare driving trailer ?.

It did - the Mk5s are currently off-lease.
68023/29 are still leased to TPE for stock moves between Longsight and Long Marston. As I understand it, all of the Mk5A stock is still leased to TPT, including the spare DT 12802

A source from Transpennie express told me a couple of weeks ago, only however 3 sets was still on lease to Transpennie after the other sets including the DT 12802, was returned to Beacon Rail, ie 3 sets remaining on lease due to the bad condition they are in, obviously this might not be true.

Only the most reliable information from sources else which matches with information from op on here is that 68029 68023, are still on lease to TPE for the moves, obvious reasons one in service, other spare rescue etc,

Plus 68026 68027 on lease to Europhenix hence move to Leicester on Friday 06th September 2024, after dropping the 68s off at Long Marston.

However due to issues with mk5 sets, condition wise, it's possible that all the sets are still on lease until December 2024, as part of the lease term, as its had to been extended.

I wonder if 12802 will make a trip to Longsight ?. It is probably the single Mk5a most people need !.

Makes sense. Others have only seen its replacement in set TP02 (i.e. 12814 the original "spare") and I certainly never got a sniff at TP02 before 12802 got side lined !.

It was in its correct set and in use for a while before it had its window screen broken by I think a brick. It was swapped with the spare whilst it was repaired and became the spare it's self.

TP02 did not work in passenger service with 12802.

First run in passenger service:

68027/TP02 (with DT 12814)

I wonder - gone there for exhaust/silencer modifications or to pick something up ?.
Light engine and was planned to arrive via reversal at Toton but looks to have skipped that !.

Maybe a repaint into the Europhoenix colours, plus some mods for them? Interesting times ahead.
