After the announcement of the ASLEF strike on the 26th November I am now seeking a refund from TPE whom I booked from. They are asking, as evidence to take a photo of the tickets cut in half from top to bottom. This will sound completely daft but what do they mean "cut in half from top to bottom" do they mean a cut horizontally or vertically?
Thanks for your time and help.

Diagonal or vertical is what we used to ask for when we'd want ticket evidence (I used to do refunds for a number of TOCs). In practice, anything that shows you can't use them anymore will do.

A cut from the top of the ticket downwards to the bottom of the ticket, vertically. Across the black magstrip on the reverse of the ticket.
