Hello all,

Long story short, I was issued a TIR and I stupidly lied about my address and date of birth while riding TPE with a recently expired (1 month) railcard.

Officer recorded most of the interaction where I was asked to write down my details on paper and a picture of the ticket (on my phone) was taken.

I was by no means rude to the officer nor he was rude with me, I was however feeling a bit rebellious and gave an old address with a minor change and a very similar DOB... Very silly and immature of me, full stop.

The address registered on the card used to purchase ticket matches my home address.

Now my question is, when do I apologise to TPE and indicate my correct details so that I can fully own the fine? do I do it now or do I wait for the Notice of Intended Prosecution?

Also, apologies if this question has been asked several times and thanks for your patience :'(

You may wish to contact TPE to advise of a new address and that you've currently had no correspondence off them. You don't have to admit that you gave a false address.

Vital that you get the paperwork and respond or this will automatically escalate to court. Baillifs will eventually find you by which time fines and costs will have increased significantly. You need to act to avoid this.

Tell them your current correct address and quote their reference number.

Confine the message to a simple one just telling them how to contact you correctly. Post a draft here if you want it checked before sending.
