I've been in the railway industry within a consultancy setting for a few years and really want to expand my general understanding of the railway, from signalling through to operations. I've been making a real attempt to expand my knowledge of the railway through podcasts, reading and increasing engagement with forums like this but I'm a visual learner and sitting behind a desk makes it more difficult to really understand the nuances of the railway. I'm thinking about buying a console and Train Sim World to improve my knowledge, is this just a silly thought? Are there any other visual learning techniques you'd recommend?

Thanks in advance

For signalling, I'd highly recommend a look at SimSig. Some locations are even free to download and use. It isn't available on consoles though, just computer (primarily Windows, but the Installation guide does make mention of Mac and Linux).
