The 745 is a train that is particularly close to my heart, and which I would dearly love to have in simulator form. But even I'm not going to cough up that much to give to a (by all accounts) pretty shady and unethical business, even for a 745. So why would I pay as much again for the same train just shorter and with a rocket in the middle?

Also, slightly unrelated, but I wish there was more of a focus on routes than stock, particularly in the UK market. You can now find a copy of basically every carriage and wagon and loco and unit built since about 1981, but routes are dating far faster and there seems to be a great deal more stock than there are routes suitable for them. I do get that route building is a bit of a nightmare, but surely there has to come a point where updating old routes and filling gaps (and the same for old stock I suppose) becomes more of a priority than yet another obscure hopper wagon?

ATS over complicate things again (thinking mainly of their disastrous installer that was discontinued).

Image shows pricing model for the ATS class 745 and 755.

The ATS subscription model is pretty weird to me. Alan’s argument is it’s worth is as you get discounts on their products, but when you actually look at what subware content is released it’s very few and far between, so that argument doesn’t really hold any water.

I agree, I’d love to see more routers but as you say it’s a huge amount of time and effort, and developers are now often focusing on TSW (Just Trains for example).

Now something I'm looking forward to - the next pack from AP is the Valenta HST:-

Excellent. I've been watching the progress of this via the newsletters. This version of the pack will not have a new cab, unlike the MTU version, but will have a heavily modified and re-textured version of the original cab which looks great based on the (albeit lowres) screenshots.

[Attached image is taken from AP's latest newsletter entry and shows the re-textured cab included with the pack]

AP's Valenta pack is now released. £29.99 (same as MTU), discounted to £24.99 for MTU pack owners. It would be interesting to hear how people compare the value of this pack compared to the 745/755 ATS offering.

Am I correct in thinking that he previous AP HST Valenta was just an Enhancement Pack for the DTG model whereas this new one is a fully new model?

The first part is correct. From my understanding, AP acquired the rights to the DTG model and thus modified it for the new MTU/Valenta packs. I've used the MTU pack many times and have never noticed an issue with the model so the modifications worked in my eyes
