There is no pattern to the frequency of trainee driver jobs usually. Most companies simply post positions as and when they need a trainee. For example it could be they have people retiring, new franchise/timetable, people moving jobs etc etc.

Just keep an eye on whichever companies you are interested in. Sign up to alerts on their website and read the various advice threads on this board including the pinned 'Becoming a train driver' one.

As Cyclist said, there’s no frequency to the jobs becoming available. Just keep an eye out and look regularly. It’s also good to bear in mind that the process isn’t a quick one. I initially applied for one back in September last year and am still awaiting my final DMI.
