Hi I have received an email a couple days ago from trainline stating the following:

We have identified a pattern on your Trainline account where tickets are being purchased with a Railcard discount.
Our records indicate that travel occurred beyond the Railcard's validity period, raising concerns about fare evasion.
As an authorized ticket retailer, we are obligated to report suspicious activity to railway operators.
If they determine misuse, they may request relevant data, which we are legally required to provide.
Traveling without a valid Railcard for the entire journey is a serious offense and may result in fines or legal proceedings imposed by the railway operator.
This serves as a formal warning. If this pattern continues, further investigation and enforcement measures will follow.
If you believe this has been flagged in error or require clarification, please contact us.

I have used an expired railcard and realized a few weeks ago that it had expired hence for the past couple weeks, i have been purchasing the full price tickets, im not sure if this email will mean futher action will be taken or not, and i am seriously concerned on whether i should still use my trainline account or not, would appreciate any advice

You do not have to retain proof of holding a valid railcard for historic purchases, and the fact you have now stopped using an expired railcard means you are probably lucky. Formal warning as in don’t do it any more, which you aren’t.

General advice is to use just about anyone apart from Trainline for other reasons, like this forum’s site. Trainline often charge fees that others don’t.

But even if you continue, I wouldn’t worry. It’s a warning only.

Don’t incriminate yourself to them in any way. Just don’t reply to them.

There’s no reason to stop using your Trainline account, though there are plenty of other ticketing apps available. The important thing is to stop applying the railcard discount (which it seems you have done) or buy a new railcard if appropriate.

Do Trainline issue reminders that a ticket is being purchased where according to their records the validity has expired. If not, why not?

Don't use Trainline. They get forced to do these audits by train companies and most sites don't. Plus they charge a booking fee in most cases, and are literally never ever the cheapest retailer for this reason.

I should hope so! Money is better spent preventing avoidable "crime" than detecting it!
