After starting off in a blaze of glory, this thread seems to be on the way out. Very few and very short posts now.

I just don't have the patience for making tons of observations on a regular basis these days. It was handy once upon a time, as it brought something different to a bash. These days with Live Trip Reports on Twitter, typing up the trip report for here and just generally enjoying the trip, there isn't time to make the same volume of observations as I used to.

It always took ages to process them all too, which as things are here at this time, the time to do so is just not there. Nor is the energy or patience after a full day's graft.

Other factors include the drain on battery life on my phone, as well as keeping a social life going on, whether by text or in person. When I first started this thread that wasn't an issue, but things change, people move on, we grow up and life changes!

There's also the fact I just don't get out on the rails much these days, nor near a station!

Here are my observations from today, in screenshot form. I've not been feeling well lately so not going on the laptop tonight!

Quite funny that when 158951 was getting ready to depart for its 30 minute journey, 150101 was waiting a few platforms down, midway through its 4 hour journey. I wonder why 158951 was sentenced to Severn Beach line services.

158951 working a 3 carriage diagram, albeit that of a 150/9. 150925 spotted so perhaps 926 didn't come out to play today.

Low and behold 07.23 Portsmouth Harbour - Newport was formed of 158950 today with one engine out of action (carriage c). The driver kept trying but it wouldn't restart. Unit terminated at Newport (vice Cardiff) 37 minutes down.

EMT provided an additional working on Saturday. An HST with power cars 43059 + 43066 worked the following:-
1608 Nottingham-Manchester Piccadilly
1722 Manchester Piccadilly-Chesterfield
1850 Chesterfield-Stockport
2013 Stockport-Liverpool Lime Street
2158 Liverpool Lime Street-Nottingham
Presumably the train ran in connection with the two big rugby matches in Manchester.
The sighting of an HST (other than the NMT) is very rare these days.

Tuesday was a good day for the sub class reaching Lime Street:-

350373 0834 Liverpool Lime Street-Birmingham New Street
350372 1034 Liverpool Lime Street-Birmingham New Street
350375 1134 Liverpool Lime Street-Birmingham New Street

In addition 350374 was on the 1313 Euston-Birmingham New Street and 1533 return. The rest of the class were south of Northampton with none on the Euston to Crewe service which was all 350/1.

Yesterday 350369 was on Liverpool services.

Lots of congestion around Worcester today. Earlier reports of a broken down train between Great Malvern and Hereford late morning, and another failed train at The Hawthorns this evening. I travelled to Worcester from Bristol (and returned). On the way, my train was terminated early and on the way back, I missed my connection at Temple Meads. Ah well!

Also, does GWR have a shortage of 150s at the moment? Have they sent off a few 150/2s to be refurbished at the same time?
