Apparently Blender is easier to use than Gmax and I think you can get better results with it (I have a feeling Rumour3's 66 was made with Blender).
Is it free then? I thought you had to pay for it. Well anyway I'm not fussed at the moment as I'm not making any content yet (bar reskins). :)

are they any routes witch do not need any Dependencies
All routes need dependencies, without them, your route would be completely bare, no track, no buildings, no textures, no trains etc. Dependencies are the component parts of a route.

I wonder how difficult it is to actually just build your own trains....? I'd be willing to learn.

Sketchup is easy to use. If you look on the Google Warehouse you can see examples of tube trains and HST's. Once you get the basics on GS, it's relatively simple. I've done a few trains myself.
