I work on the railway and actually use traksy alot as a secondary back up to plan my work in real time, it's a shame you couldn't get Toc's, train maintenance companies on board as a subscription service for staff etc ? Think it would be a great source of revenue for in my opinion a valuable service !

Any information please pm thanks

I'm very open to approaches from TOCs and any other industry companies. Part of the aim of the ORR and RTT gadgets is to demonstrate how companies would be able to add their own data and share it with their staff or more widely.

I've got 15 years of experience building tech and support teams around new products, and if the customers were there to support it I'd love to be able to do that here. Tell any the budget-holders and purchasing managers you know ;)

Option to include a link to RealTimeTrains on schedule pages. This allows quick access to their Know Your Train feature for people who are interested in unit numbers.
I’m very excited to hear that this went somewhere! Thank you for listening to the feedback!

At the risk of invading the thread... :)
RTT's ads are on the edge for me simply because their ad network often serves ads that "escape" their container or really quite distracting animated ones.
I'm not a fan of them either and @takno and I had a chat about ads a few weeks ago at an event. If you see particularly intrusive ones then please report them to support with an image and where they link to so I can review and if necessary get the ban hammer placed upon them. Unfortunately the ones that pay the most are normally the ones that foul the rules.

I suppose adblockers would be a concern, but I'd be interested in whether more traffic is desktop/mobile. On mobile, of course, you're much less likely to see users using adblockers.
Mobile ad pay rates are dire (we're talking less 0.01p per impression in some cases). So while you're getting fewer people using adblockers, you're getting paid next to nothing anyway.

You're welcome to the thread Tom. It was an interesting discussion. A lot of times with mobile it can relate to whether there is any inventory available in workable sizes - if you're willing to push interstitials or videos it can be okay, but they're really intrusive, and banner ads just don't drive any business.

I run an adblocker on mobile anyway, so I tend to not really know how intrusive things are. The main downside being that I get really oversensitive if I accidentally use Chrome and see the internet in its full ad-laden glory.

I do believe I have found a feature on the app that @takno hasn't told us about. According to the app, 2S88 will arrive in Sheffield at 1710, 4 and half minutes late (it is currently 1650).

That's interesting. I suspect somebody manually entered reports for it somehow upstream

It's simpler than that - it's just showing yesterday's schedule.
(vs https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:G34389/2024-09-28/detailed )

A fairly normal thing to see from time to time on traksy.

Ahh yes, old site. The new site does it a lot less often.

Another release this evening with the addition of favourites - just press the * button to save something to favourites, and it will appear at the top of your search results.

Couple of limitations:
- You can't yet favourite a map (should be coming soon)
- The favourites are stored in your browser rather than your account, so if you use multiple devices you'll need to set them on both.

Any chance of this diagram getting the Southeastern lines out of victoria fixed? They don't function at the moment. https://traksy.uk/new/?id=55#BATRSPK
These are now working.

The beta site should also be working much better on Safari and iOS.

I've also added map-scrolling using a normal mousewheel

Unfortunately I think this release might’ve broken Safari! On my phone it won’t load any maps after I search for them, just displays the home page.

Are you logged in? It's really unclear that that's why it's not loading maps... The other thing you might need to try is a couple of refreshes.

If you are still struggling then drop me a PM. I've tested across a few devices and it generally works better now, but iOS is a constant pain just because Safari insists on being the new IE6 all the time.

I think live updates seem broken? For me, even with the WiFi+tick, I have to refresh to see updated locations.

Ah yes it seems to work after a random amount of refreshes, thanks!

Yeah no live updates for me either in safari.

Still having issues? I did just have deploy an extra fix, but that was only to make the login button clickable on my iPhone 7.

It's all quite strange because the changes were essentially all cosmetic, to deal with some layout problems.

I did have delete website data (settings app -> safari -> advanced -> website data -> edit button -> click on traksy.uk) to get everything to work, which is annoying. I think I will have to put a hash in javascript filename to get that working smoothly.

Hi! The berth for the Down Fast at Hitchin appears to be displaying whatever headcode it feels like, usually a headcode from nearby. I'm not sure if it's accurate when there's actually a train there, haven't seen it yet.

Interesting. It looks like it's the up shunt signal which is firing in the random headcodes. I'll add it to the list to look at when I get back

Not sure if it's been pointed out, but the TD berths from Kirk Sandall Junction through to Thorne Junction on the Up Scunthorpe Fast and Up Scunthorpe Slow are the wrong way round.

Up Scunthorpe Slow signals are: D668, D664, D660, D648, D644, D630
Up Scunthorpe Fast signals are: D666, D662, D658, D646, D642, D628

For me on iOS / Safari, the train codes have today become very small. I haven’t consciously changed anything in Safari…

I hate iOS with a passion. Safari truly is the IE6 of modern browsers...

I'll take a look when I get back. Unfortunately I'm currently in Scandinavia, where there is famously no internet, I don't have access to an iPhone, and the beer is cheap if you get drunk enough to forget the exchange rate. It's probably going to be a week until I can take a look at it.

Definitely worth emailing about issues with the beta website though - it's always the highest priority for fixes, and I often won't know if something has broken on iPhone.

I've created a Bluesky account at https://bsky.app/profile/traksy.uk (Twitter has been dead to me since they killed off 3rd party apps). I'll probably keep posting big updates on this thread, but do follow along there for a longer stream of updates

Morning

Is there a problem with the website?

It is not working for me at all...

Also a number of other people are reporting problems on a new thread in the Railway Discussion section

Thank you

Dave

I noticed 1C42 diappeared between Arundel and Ford Jn this afternoon, and this duplication of 1N43 around the same area. Thought it was worth mentioning in case there's a mapping issue or whether it's just some odd transient networking thing my end. :)

Couple of observations:

Thorntonhall (East Kilbride line) has the platform on the wrong side of the track. I think it’s all one word as well.

Innerwick GSP (ECML between Dunbar and Berwick) - it’s been two fully signalled crossovers controlled from Edinburgh since 1987 (I was the designer!)
