At Marks Tey on Greater Anglia’s Sudbury branch, the rear coach door is locked when arriving at Marks Tey due to the end of the coach resting beyond the platform, requiring passengers to walk through to the next coach to alight on the platform

Would SDO be used for Ty Glas until such time as the platform is extended rather than skip the station altogether ?

Is Ty Glas being extended for 3 carriage 756 trains or will it be able to accommodate 4 carriage 756 trains which other stations on the line could handle (unsure about Coryton) - it would provide greater flexibility if something unforeseen occurs

My guess would be that it wouldn't be worth the bother of setting up SDO for temporary use.

Just closing it for a while would be a lot less hassle (for TfW).

It would seem daft to me to only extend Ty Glas for 3 coach trains but I have no idea. And like you I'm not sure if Coryton could cope with 4 coaches anyway, but given that with the increased frequences and trains crossing over each other at Queen Street, it won't take much for things to fall apart some some flexibility might indeed be good!

I wasn't aware that 231s were cleared for Barry Island, i did see one test run recently but I didn't know they could run in passenger server.

I know it's happened at least once before today.

Canton and on irregular testing shuttles up towards Gloucester.
The 756s rarely do the Gloucester trips. Those are/were 197s more recently. The 756s would go to Swindon

Where can you find 756s in Cardiff ?.
The bulk of the fleet are parked up at Barry whilst awaiting entry into traffic although they get swapped around
There are usually 4 or 5 of them at Canton.

Noted down at Barry today, 26/03/2024 were 756001 & 756007 plus
756103, 756107, 756107 & 756112 plus a few more that I couldn't identify.
Hopefully they'll see service soon?

Also. Can anyone confirm if all the 231's are in Wales and are active. I can't find any records of 231007 & 231011 being in service.

Cheers, Fadster.

I know for sure that 231011 is in service since I've been on it myself and 231007 is in service as I've seen it working Penarth runs. All of the fleet should be active and working.

All 231s have entered service, but 007 and 008 are currently long term out of use.

231008 was out yesterday and did the morning rush hour today so maybe they've fixed that at the cost of one of the others.

A 756 is being tested today between Canton and Pontypridd via the city line. According to RTT, it's 756106. It's just passed me on electric - a nice silent change from the roar of the 153s usually on the city line!

It's on staff training runs. At least 4 trips to Pontypridd each day via cityline

231004 derailed on entry to Canton last night having worked 2F39 2124 Penarth to Cardiff Central. Looks like 009 was stuck behind it.

From what I can see, it looks like a points issue

All is well now though

Do the 756's have any sort of date for entry into service?

Hi.

Where abouts are the 756's parked up at Barry? I'm doing a trip to Cardiff next month so might as well go and see a couple of of them for the sake of a few quid.

Barry station.

You will see a few from the left side of the train from Cardiff.

Then binoculars over the edge of the platform footbridge.

Then walk.
Right out of station and follow road parallel to the railway, Right turn onto the road under the railway. Right turn up a small road past garages until you meet the depot gates.

Double back and go past the road under the railway and up a footpath on the left into a car park etc with views.

I think I saw about eight but there is scope for about four to be hiding alongside the shed that is alongside the station.
