My partner has been heavily affected by a tree coming down on the airedale line. Buses currently running leeds to skipton. Network rail state likely to affect tomorrow mornings peak trains

Looks like just about everything that should have run between Skipton and Shipley has been cancelled since around maybe 1630 today (Thursday). Overhead wires brought down somewhere along the section of line?

I was nosying at the webcams to watch the WCR railtour go through and realised it hadn't got past Skipton on its way back to York from Carlisle. Had a look on RTT and everything was cancelled from about 16:30 and still is. The WCR must have resersed at Skipton and gone a different way to York as it arrived there at 23:31, some 87 late. Various units are currently parked at Stations along the Airedale Line according to the diagrams on the Railcam website so there's no way through. After getting caught up in the last mess that unfolded along here I decided to drive between Skipton and Bingley in future, which would have paid off today had I needed to go into the office.

No trains running on the Skipton – Shipley section since 16:45, with other routes severely affected.
Disruption expected to continue until 09:00 Friday
LNER have cancelled their BDQ/SKI extensions this evening and tomorrow morning (will start at Leeds)

Northerns information about rail replacement buses was poor after 2200. She was at leeds from 2200 and no information. I rang their customer information line as website was not up to date and they had to ring control who said 2245 train to shipley. Never mentioned a bus. Bus turned up at 2235. I have travelled throughout the country on rail and have done for over 40 years and the information provided to passengers then was poor and is still awful today despite technology

I caught the 0702 from Shipley.

Saw a fair few leave on a bus to Leeds, no idea why they would do that.

It's a shame that they can't run shuttles to Shipley when there is disruption and use Shipley as an interchange for buses. Maybe when the depot gets built here it will become the centre of the Airdale universe.

It went via Blackburn

The tree came down in the region of Stotts crossing, a mile of so north of Keighley. No electric trains could run between Skipton and Crossflatts, and no diesels between Kildwick and Crossflatts. Hence the lack of service north of Shipley. My train northbound from Skipton ran, not more than a few minutes late, thanks to a guard volunteering to work over his day to keep it moving, as the booked guard was stuck on a train elsewhere.

The units trapped at various places between Shipley and Skipton have all gained 5xxx headcodes in the last few minutes, so hopefully some movement will take place soon.

Unit that was on P1 at Keighley now heading towards Skipton as 5S02.

Photo shows the damage to overhead wires from a large tree.

I was able to drive to Shipley this morning and get a train from there to Leeds. I was expecting it to be rammed, but, perhaps with it being a Friday, it wasn't overly busy.

Well done those who got things back up and running my mid-morning.

I think this is the third time in 18 months or so a tree has come down around Keighley and taken the wires with it. Perhaps time for Network Rail to pay for chainsaws rather than paying out the compensation to operators.

Unfortunately the trees around there aren't on NwR land, which complicates things hugely. It shouldn't, because people's lives are potentially at stake, but that's the way it is at the moment.

Think how many neighbours network rail have and you then probably realise that the fallen tree problem isn't going to be resolved today or tomorrow
