Notes:
*1: 1B22 attaches to the rear of 1P22 (Melton Mowbray to Kettering) at Kettering and continues as 1B22 CL222 (5+5). 1P22 9 late @ KET leading to 1B22 departing 4 late, time made up by St. Pancras. The timetable allows 15 minutes between 1P22 arrival at KET and 1B22 departing.
*2: Walk from St. Pancras to Marylebone: St. Pancras west side entrance for Brill Place route to Euston (brief toilet stop), then via Regents Park to Marylebone. 52 minutes between trains, made it with 4 minutes to spare at fast pace. Would be more comfortable timing without a toilet stop and/or via a slightly more direct route not through the park. Toilets at Euston seemed OK, pretty clean (cubicles not inspected!). No queue for Gents (Ladies queue was appalling).
*3: Aylesbury: A food market was in progress at the market square (various Indian food and bakery stalls). Bought cake. The David Bowie “Earthly Messenger” statue is just off the square, it plays a random Bowie track on the hour. The canal basin marks the end of the Aylesbury arm of the Grand Union canal, which could form a 10 mile walk to Tring station. There are two shopping centres, one on each side of the market square. Although very short, the route from the market square to the station through the Friargate shopping centre is very poorly signed; looking carefully, you are directed across a bridge to the car park, then there is a lift to around six different levels with no mention of access to the station. I guessed correctly that the ground floor was the right choice.
*4: Between Aylesbury and Little Kimble on the single line to Princes Risborough, in the area where it crosses the HS2 route, the track realignment, new bridge and formation clearance allow passive provision for a long passing loop. It appears such a loop was originally planned as part of EWR but later dropped and there seem to be no current plans to actually build it.

Forget to mention, Princes Risborough has a platform dedicated to the Chinnor heritage railway. A view towards Chinnor down the branch:
