Did the old Ardrossan station have the wires before it was dismantled?

No. The Harbour station had to ‘retreat’ to allow the level crossing to be closed. Overhead wires (even at maximum height) would have prevented certain tall dock cranes or other abnormal loads from reaching the quayside.
