They certainly seem to exist only in "backwaters" these days. What a motley collection of venues you list. The branches in Dingwall and Fraserburgh are full of "Mc Hillbillies" when cousins marry et al....

Yeah, they're not in the central belt, so what? It doesn't mean that the good burghers of Ross-shire and Buchan are inbred...

McD's or BK? It's a long time since I've been to that end of the city centre but I don't remember there being a Burger King down that way- there was McD's below the Ridings Centre and may have been one in the Ridings food court, I can't quite remember. The BK I was talking about is right at the top end of the new shopping arcade, just over the road from the bus station and new market place...

To clarify.

BK in the Ridings Centre food court has closed. Not sure what has replaced it. McDonald's in the city centre closed last year. There are now only 2 McDonald's in Wakefield. One on the Cathedral Retail Park which is nowhere near the Cathedral, but accessible on the Free City Bus and is almost classed as the city centre. The other is on Dewsbury Road near Morrison's.

BK in Trinity Walk is still open, and there's another branch on the A650 dual carriageway heading towards the M1.

Lots of town centres have lost their McDonalds over the years. Here's some of them....

Wakefield
Dewsbury
Barnsley
Keighley
North Shields (now a BK)
Accrington
Wilmslow
Altrincham
Crosby (Liverpool)
Cheetham Hill (Manchester - replaced with a Drive -Thru nearby)
Grantham
Beeston (Nottingham)
Ilkeston
Worksop
Harborne (Birmingham)
Hemel Hempstead
Bognor Regis
Ilford (Cranbrook Road)
Golders Green

That's just from my memory.

I "think" Erdington High Street in Birmingham had one too. I could be wrong though.

Still one on the High Road though.

There is indeed. There are a few "town centre" McDonald's close to Ilford that I can think of. Barking, Barkingside, East Ham. I can think of 2 Drive-Thru's - Newbury Park and Leytonstone, although I'm sure there are more.

Towns that spring to mind around western Scotland that don't have a McDonalds' branch include Helensburgh (pop. of roughly 13k), Larkhall (pop. of 14k) & Bellshill (pop. of 20k).

Not sure if mentioned already but Hexham (11,000) doesn't have one, nearest is Consett. Also Coupar Angus & Blairgowrie (close together, about 12,000 between them) have their nearest in Perth. Also Forfar (14,000) is out of town drive-thru {sic} only

Romford has two, one very close to the station that I've found useful before boarding a train, for a drink given that the boozers round there are geared up to, shall we say, serious drinkers.
