Whenever I go through Birmingham International station I am reminded that Birmingham International Airport was renamed Birmingham Airport in 2011 meaning the station name has now been obsolete for 11 years. I was wondering though how many other stations have names which are obsolete as the things they are named after have changed.

Some others that I can think of are Prestwick International Airport which is now Glasgow Prestwick Airport, Bescot Stadium although I understand why they don't want Banks Stadium as the name, Singer served the sewing machine factory which has closed, G-Mex tram stop kept it's name for 3 years after the venue changed it's name and finally Teesside Airport station well that has a very odd relationship with the airport's name.

Can anyone think of any more?

British Steel Redcar and IBM Halt.....although I believe that both are currently not being served pending future developments.

Well, I don't think Crystal Palace has a palace any more! Sometimes the community took the name of the station that took its name from something else.

There are many major stations where the name has been made obsolete by the closure of another major station and gradually fallen out of use.

Leicester Midland -> Leicester
Chester General -> Chester
Sheffield Midland -> Sheffield
and so on...

Not sure if they exactly fit your criteria though.

The entrance to Wakefield Westgate is further than it used to be from the road of that name. Come to think of it, Kirkgate isn't on Kirkgate either.

Then of course there's Trafford Centre tram stop, which opened as Intu Trafford Centre... only for Intu to collapse within four months, leading to the brand being removed from the stop a few months after that.

Rotherham Central is now the only station in the town proper (excluding Parkgate tram/train stop) so doesn't really need a suffix- although there are other stations in the borough.

Also, does Warrington still actually have a working quay near Bank Quay Station now that the Unilever factory has shut? I'm not sure.

That would make the name somewhat obsolete, although that area of town is still called 'Bank Quay' by many.

Bescot Stadium: As the "Banks Stadium" name will only be kept for as long as the sponsorship remains, why attempt to keep up with the name change every time that happens? Far easier to keep the station name constant so that you don't have to constantly update hundreds of rail operating and retail systems that make reference to it.

Similarly at Coventry, the new station is Coventry Arena, regardless of whether the nearby venue is called the Ricoh Arena, the Coventry Building Society Arena or what ever it may be in five years time.

Changing station names involves far more than simply putting new signs on the building itself. Several official proposals to amend or update station names have been quietly dropped when those sponsoring the suggestion have been told how much it will cost to enact.

In a similar vein Stratford International as no international trains have ever stopped there.

I don't think any shipping has made it up the Mersey to Warrington for a very long time, although pleasure boats have occasionally ventured that far up, and here's some maintenance craft on the river in 2013: https://www.flickr.com/photos/32865578@N02/9719708238/in/photostream/

There are no longer any junctions at the eponymous St Helens Junction, Burscough Junction, Mitcham Junction or Dalston Junction stations.

I’m willing to be there’s no longer a wishing well at St Keyne

According to Wiki, the well is still there and flourishing, "now in a small housing made of dressed granite". Its wish-granting capacity of course depends on what one chooses to believe...

If we're allowing the tube, Latimer Road is an interesting one - half of the eponymous road was renamed so the station is now almost half a mile from the surviving bit.

There haven’t been any meads in not-quite-central Bristol for many years - and Temple Church has been a shell for 80.
