I found this thread on non London-serving VTEC services quite interesting - about where, how and why services end up running which don't serve the core stations of a TOC's network. In light of that I thought I'd start a similar thread for CrossCountry.

Birmingham New Street is of course at the heart of their network. But what remains around the edges? There are couple on my morning commute - the newly extended 06:25 from York to Glasgow, with a return run leaving Glasgow at 19:00, as well as the 05:56 from Derby to Newcastle.

Any others!?

These trains are legs of the core route starting or terminating elsewhere first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

Are these (plus the service mentioned by Starmill) the only services entirely within Scotland that are not operated by ScotRail?

I'm intrigued why this would start in Dunbar? Given that it has to travel as an ECS from Edinburgh to get there, and that there's the 07:42 getting into Edinburgh just after 08:00 for the morning commuters - is there really the market for that from Dunbar?

On a Sunday there's a Sheffield-Edinburgh/Glasgow starter. 9:21 I think?

1C11 06:34 Bristol Temple M to Plymouth. I believe this runs via Worle on weekdays, but departs at 06:08 on Saturdays and runs via Bath Spa and Westbury.

1D00 is always mobbed from Dunbar to Edinburgh. There are quite a few who travel the whole way to Glasgow too.
Tha train also has a catering trolley that does a great trade too.

The good people of Dunbar obviously get up early in the morning!

I was on the 1512 XC from Edinburgh to Glasgow and was surprised to see the catering trolley .
