On the DC lines the stations between South Hampstead and Willesden have 2tph extra when Primrose Hill is being used.

Also not unknown for the WLL to get 6tph Overground (+1 southern) when Richmond is shut.

Thanks for allowing this thread to be restored.

Today there was 4 fast trains an hour from Guildford to Clapham Junction. Since COVID it has only been 1 train an hour on Saturdays, although there may be more than 1 in the early morning.

The reason for it today is the Alton to London Waterloo services being diverted via Guildford and the Weymouth services doing the same.

Prior to COVID there was 2 fast trains to Clapham Junction on Saturdays so instead of. Doubling of services, today it was a trippling of services.

Are there any other stationd where engineering works since post COVID have led to a much better service compared to the usual services post COVID?

Northallerton normally gets 1tp2h to Edinburgh, but an hourly service during Durham Coast diversions.

Sticking with the Durham Coast, why don't diverted services call at Sunderland as an alternative to Durham? Issues with pathing or with already busy services potentially carrying Sunderland to Newcastle rather than long-distance passengers?

Greateranglia often runs relief trains Norwich to Cambridge/Stansted when there are engineering works on the GEML, and this can result in 3tph (2 GA stoppers + EMR fast) on the Breckland line. Not hugely helpful whilst Cambridge South works are going on, but usually results in a much faster service into London than rail replacement buses on the A12!

Today it looks like Horsham has extra fast services to London due to the Croydon-Gatwick blockade. 1Z services running Victoria-Clapham-Epsom-Horsham-Gatwick every 30mins.

I have seen LNER terminate at St. Neots once. Giving it services it Leeds, Edinburgh etc. I was quite surprised they didn’t just can it all at Peterborough. But every little helps. As a relatively unknown town in Cambridgeshire, I did find it quite amusing to see that listed as a destination at Waverley or Newcastle etc

They've done that quite a bit during the ECDP works

I think Goole has (is due to have soon?) London services when engineering works mean Hull Trains can't call at Selby.

St. Neots has a better set-up for onward Rail Replacement buses and allows for bigger turnaround of trains.

It certainly did last weekend. Was quite nice hearing it announced at Doncaster whilst changing trains. Think the 10 carriage formations I saw are probably the longest trains to serve Goole in modern times too!

Yes, I’ve mentioned two in the post above yours, although not as significantly better as your example.

Yeah, or from the other end seeing destinations of Edinburgh and Leeds on the boards. The first time or two they did it the Inverness started at SNO (St Neots) too, which was really fun! (I wish I'd managed to catch it while they still did it - although I did watch it leave on one of the days, now we only get Edinburgh/Leeds, everything else spins further north)

Do XC still ever divert their Plymouth trains via Oxford calling at Oxford non stop after Birmingham New Street? Meaning as well as the normal Bournemouth/Reading trains calling at Oxford there's also an additional non stop Birmingham New Street to Oxford on behalf on engineering work around Bristol.

I’m not sure if I’ve seen it mentioned already but Brighouse when there are TRU works, gaining TPE services with a RRB connection to Huddersfield.

In forthcoming blockades the Huddersfield to Leeds and Huddersfield services will be combined to give Brighouse two Northern services per hour to Leeds and two TPE services per hour.

Doncaster gains calls on the Edinburgh to Plymouth services when they can’t go via Leeds.

I have seen in the past when Shipley/Guiseley to Leeds is closed the Ilkley to Leeds service is redirected to Bradford Forster Square, calling at Shipley but not Baildon and Frizinghall to allow a connection onto a RRB at Shipley.

There have also been Ilkley to Leeds via Shipley services in the past, meaning that Baildon has gained a direct Leeds service at the expense of a Bradford Forster Square service.

When the route through Wakefield Westgate has been closed the Knottingley to Leeds via Wakefield service has been diverted via Castleford, not calling at Glasshoughton and Woodlesford.
