I am trying to find out what are the least used stations with a ticket office and the most used stations without a ticket office.

What are the top least used stations that have a ticket office?

What are the top most used stations that do not have a ticket office?

For least used that have a ticket office i would suggest Crowhurst or Martin Mill or Shepherds Well or Stonegate are all certainly contenders?

For most used that do not have a ticket office i would suggest Heathrow T123 or Heathrow T4 or Heathrow T5 or London Waterloo East or any of the Crossrail stations or LU stations that are served by NR are all contenders?

I have been trying to look at the station usage statistics but the spreadsheet is a confusing mess that makes no sense. For example every station has five columns that say "Apr 2021 to Mar 2022 Entries And Exits" and all five columns have a different number in them. So i have no idea how i am supposed to read it.

I would be interested to hear what are likely the least used stations with a ticket office and the most used stations without a ticket office.

Also i am not sure if this thread is best placed in the tickets section or stations section so feel free to move it if it should be elsewhere.

Does Highbury and Islington have a ticket office? Was sixth busiest NR station a few years ago IIRC

No i do not think it does as it is a London Underground managed station. That must certainly be a contender for the most used station without a ticket office. It is certainly a well used station.

From what I can tell from national rail enquiries it looks like it used to have a London Underground ticket office, but it was closed in their mass closure of ticket offices and it does not appear to have been replaced.

Wikipedia puts it at number 13 on the list of busiest stations. Going through the stations above it in the list i'm pretty sure they all have functioning ticket offices.

The column headings are spread over two lines of text so you may need to expand the header row to see the full names. The first five columns after the station name are:
Apr 2021 to Mar 2022 Entries and exits:
Full ticket
Apr 2021 to Mar 2022 Entries and exits:
Reduced ticket
Apr 2021 to Mar 2022 Entries and exits:
Season ticket
Apr 2021 to Mar 2022 Entries and exits:
Total
Apr 2021 to Mar 2022 Entries and exits:
Rank

(Ref for others: Table 1410 available here: https://dataportal.orr.gov.uk/statistics/usage/estimates-of-station-usage/)

I thought this subject was discussed recently.?
Crowhurst station has been unstaffed for several years.
pre- covid Frant had less passengers than Stonegate which has been unmanned every time I have used it although the ticket office is still in situ. I thought Stonegate was still staffed during the mornings as it has a large number of commuters.
As to the busiest Waterloo East is effectively joined to Waterloo station.

Is there some geographical restriction to the OP that I'm missing? Off the top of my head, Chassen Road and Glazebrook have figures way below any of the stations that are mentioned above, and are still staffed part-time Mon-Fri morning peak.

As for busiest unstaffed station, Castleford must be worth a thought.

Yes it looks like Highbury & Islington is the winner of the most used station without a ticket office.

Thank you for the explanation. That explains it. I was wondering which column was which.

According to all information online Crowhurst still has a ticket office for a few hours in the morning. All of the information online such as the National Rail Enquires website suggests this. So i believe that it still has one.

No geographical restriction. I was just thinking of stations in the South East as that is the area i am most familiar with. But i am certainly interested in stations anywhere. Those ones are certainly contenders.

In the latest data available, Glazebrook sold 784 tickets 20-21, we sell more than that in 2 days, we are a small 2-platforms station in West Yorkshire

Even that figure of 784 a year at Glazebrook is a lot compared to some other stations. The ticket office at Crowhurst has sold even less. They have sold just 77 tickets in an entire year. I am amazed this station still has a ticket office. It is only open from 06:00 to 10:00 on Monday to Friday but it still seems crazy that it has one. Crowhurst is a tiny little rural hamlet in the middle of nowhere. Even on peak hour trains before the corona virus hardly anyone got on or off there.

I have used Crowhurst several times and found it unstaffed although must admit it was after 1000 in the morning. It is a long spread out village so do not think that it contains just the few houses along Station Road.

Actually I owe an apology - Crowhurst was the one station I didn't check of the ones mentioned in the OP. I think I'd got Crowborough in mind so assumed it would have quite a decent footfall.

Crowhurst still has a ticket office 0600 -1000 Mon Friday. In common with most ex Southern Region rural stations the ticket office staff provide passenger assistance at the station so the closure of the ticket office would mean that the on site assistance would be withdrawn. SE guards only provide assistance getting on or off the trains. The only access to the coast bound platform is via a stepped footbridge. Whilst Southeastern also provide a mobile assistance team its unlikely that this could provide sufficient coverage in the morning peak. If you have to have a multidisciplines station staff at the station it makes sense for them to sell tickets whilst drinking tea.
I think the majority of Crowhursts clientele are students going to Hastings rather than London Commuters even before the pandemic.
Stonegate by the way could be aptly named Heathfield & Hailsham Parkway the road whilst c class is better than a lot of the B roads in East Sussex.
