I’ve often thought that it might be interesting to start a thread on the subject of which preserved lines might be left in 25/30 years time?

The large, well run and commercially astute ones and that will be about it! I am thinking NYMR/SVR/Bluebelle/GCR/Paignton & Dartmouth

A move to more diesel based traction might save a few more as will finding a USP or have some draw other than the train you might survive but I fear/expect many will go pop as the volunteers die off and cash becomes harder to find.

has Aln valley been mentioned as a short railway.
That clocks in at 0.5 miles long

Got to be mid Suffolk at Brockford just a few hundred yards
Or Mangaps 1/2 way round a field. but they are preserving some stuff no one else seems interested in 302-307 etc
