Reason I ask is that WebTIS booking engine will offer up a fare, but trainline based ones won't.

The next station along, Bradford-on-Avon will offer a fare via MAN on both booking engines.

I can see that TRO is a member Of Westbury Group for routeing purposes and BOA is associated with both Westbury Group and Bath Spa.

It does seem a bit odd that you can go to Leeds from BOA via MAN, but not from TRO. Both journeys give you the option of going through Bristol and Birmingham, but the journey from TRO appears to omit the Map (CM) covering the part of the route from BHM-MAN.

Am I missing something obvious? And why does one booking engine allow it and not the other?

If the route via Manchester appeared on the list from Bath Spa group but not Westbury Group then it would be the case that it wouldn't be valid, however, TRO-LDS is valid via Manchester on Maps MW+TV+TP and MW+TP (via Didcot and Birmingham). It is even valid via Warrington and Earlestown if you should so wish to go that way.

Yet the fares offered by WebTIS if you request via MAN is change Bristol (XC via Birmingham) and Manchester.

Yes, I'm sorry. I should've made the topic heading a bit clearer. What I was querying was TRO-LDS via MAN using the route to Manchester from Bristol via Birmingham New Street.

Technically it is not valid.

But it is valid to Birmingham via Bristol and then via Derby.
So if you went that way to Birmingham and then travelled to Manchester from Birmingham who would know you had not travelled via Didcot?

So WebTIS is wrong? Unlikely to face scrutiny but a printed itinerary should prevent any off route excess I assume.

Whilst probably irrelevant to the routeing anomaly, it's not just the 'Not London' fares that are offered by WebTIS based sites but Advance Purchase as well!

I don't think Advance Purchase tickets are limited by the Routeing Guide. It seems that TOCs are free to offer them by any route they choose.
