Hi guys/gals

I have started a new thread in regards to the refurbishment programme, since the old thread

has went off topic, post any refurbishment info in here.

So i would like to start off with

Metrocar 4021 has re entered service after refurbishment

4043 and 4087 are currently in Doncaster

4014 is suspected to be there but isnt confirmed and another one has presumably left due to

4021 being returned

Cheers

Tez :)

This may be slightly off topic but can anyone with local knowledge advise if 4055 is operational. It is now my last one for haulage and I have not seen it over the last couple of days. Thanks

no your not off topic, all questions are welcome, unfortunately im in the same boat as you,

the few times ive been on the system lately,i havent seen 4055, so perhaps its gone to

Wabtec, if not it, might be running peak shifts or having its exam, hope this helps

It does confirm my thoughts that it may, for some reason, be out of service at the moment. I had checked and could not see it as being mentioned as away for refurbishment but that is obviously a possibility.

I was only visiting the area for a couple of days and had not ridden the system for a good few years. I was quite impressed.

Managed to get my last two for sight and 15 out of 16 for haulage - 4055 is now it and so I will need to return at some point.

It was probably a good time to come as I was able to catch a few of the old liveried units 4003/4027 4012/4016 4080/4067 4024/4007 4001/4026 before they are refurbished.

I had read mention on a few sites about photographers having problems with staff but have to say I was all over the system for two days and experienced no problems.

Thanks for your feedback and all the best - 4055 I will return!!!!

4014, 4025 and 4055 were the only unrefurbished units not out this afternoon.

I've somewhat lost track of what units are at Doncaster but I suspect 4014 went down when 4037 came back and 4055 has likely gone down when 4021 came back.

4014 since August, ive lost track too to be honest, but no videos on youtube or anything, only 2 are

confirmed, 4043 and 4087, dont know if anyone can enlighten us

Just checked my records for my visit on Wed and Thurs and I definitely didn't note 4014 so didn't see it. Not much help but I strongly suspect that t wasn't out and about.

The unrefurbished units I mentioned are the ones I recall seeing and, as I say, it was good to get them before they go to the works and return the same as all the rest. Defo. be ones I did not see as they were not out or they were away to the works.

Cheers

Seems possible that, if its the case then its the first advert livery since 2012 that has left the fleet.

Interesting to note that 4025 has been fitted with new style maps like the refurbished fleet. Be interesting too see if other unrefurbished units will get these fitted in.

Just seen 4025 shunting at Gosforth Depot, so 4014 and 4055 must be the 2 others at Doncaster.

With the latest to return already in service (4021) we must be due another back fairly soon, as it used to be every 10 days or so.

your right, and it should be 4043 since it left the same time as 4021, its nice to see that the

advertisement units are back in play for refurbishment again, with the last one being 4075 2

years ago, it will be nice to see 4055 back to a basic livery again. as for the maps, i think they

will end up in the unrefurbished ones as the others were dated and most likely dont meet the

requirements/standards.

cheers

Current cars at Doncaster should be 4014, 43, 55 and 87. Rest are at the depot (from a reliable source).

Saw 4045 out today but did not see what service it was running or what it was paired with.

I may be wrong but 4045 should be past the stage of running short peak time journeys, nice to see it back

in service, its a funny one to be honest because it has its ĺivery for the airport celebrating 75 years, next

year it will be 80 years, so does anyone know if its contracted to be on and will be refreshed then, or is

4045 free for refurbishment

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
4080 and 4067 operating service 152 (Pelaw short)
4016 and 4012 on service 102 (South Hylton - Airport)

4026 and 4001 operating service 104 (South Hylton - Airport)

Could someone tell me what has happened with 4042. Its been stripped completely bare pretty much. No beepy tones, no voice announcements, no adverts and dark lighting. On the upside it smells clean and looks clean - maybe everything was removed so it could be cleaned?

Ive been on a few of the reburbs done at the same time as 4042, but havent been stripped like that, bit of a

strange one to be honest, unless its the first one to have it done, on another note, i dont know if its just co

incidence but has anyone else noticed that metrocars that are due for refurbishment get paired with 4001

What do you mean by the no beepy tones? I haven't been on it in a while so haven't heard what the door tones sound like.

As in the loud screech and the door closing beeps.

All other refurbs still have them though - could it be 4042 was rushed out the depot to cover for a failed service?

What door tones were being used instead, the old ones?

None, the driver was making the announcements for the doors closing. It's why I was so stumped because I thought a train would have been taken out of service if it didn't have the announcements.

The rear car seemed to have them working though, but then again I couldn't really hear them since they've turned them down so they are no longer ear piercing and actually sound fine now - Well done Nexus/Metro on listening to the public! :)

I believe car 4087 has returned from refurbishment today, one of either 4024 or 4045 has likely gone down in its place as these were the only 2 unrefurbished cars not out this afternoon

Unrefurbished cars are now:

4001, 4002, 4003, 4005, 4007, 4012, 4016, 4025, 4026, 4027, 4032, 4038, 4040, 4048, 4067, 4077, 4080, 4083, 4084, 4085 and either 4024/4045 totalling 21 cars
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Edit to the above, 4045 is currently parked outside one of the maintenance roads at the depot, so assuming 4087 did return yesterday it will have been 4024 that went in its place
