The ex-460 vehicles are going to look different anyway with the ribbon-glazed windows - not that it's ever stopped them :D

That is an ex 460 vehicle. And to be honest, it looks fine... They've gone further than I would have bothered to make it look like a 458.

I know but I mean when the 460 intermediate vehicles are inserted into the existing 458/0 units. We don't know what the ex-458/0 vehicles are going to look like though - hopefully not too different of course ;)

Those poor Class 70s, so bullied, so unloved

I've grown fond of them myself, projecting vents 'n all.

As for through door stock, I suppose they gotta do what they gotta do so I try to be understanding.

The class 460 on the other hand, I could never forgive. Every time I've seen one I've had to resist the urge to give it a slap.

Class 380's are ugly - possibly the ugliest train in the UK.

I couldn't care less about Southern Units so I can't comment.

Voyagers are ugly yet Pendolinos are not.

185's look like modern First Group Busses and got that horrible livery.

70's are not really ugly - very similar to 58s.

57/3's - Dellner Pendolino couplers & new cluster lights are ugly and completely ruin the appearance of what would otherwise be good looking traction type.

66's - horrible corrugated iron sheds. Surprising what a good livery can do to improve the appearance of some of these though.

Oh yes and how could I forget MPV's, ugly as hell. Especially the Network Rail ones that perform the Sandite and Weedkilling duties.

What is wrong with the 185 livery?

Don't think it looks anything like the bus livery!

I quite like the 185 livery but obviously its all a matter of opinion.

As somebody else said I think all corridor connected stock looks ugly, presumably it gives drivers a rather restricted view as well?

Anything with jumpers hanging off the front looks a mess. Ugly? possibly, but definitely untidy. I'm not too fussy though, there aren't many units I'd call flat out ugly apart from perhaps the 380 :)

Not modern, but a fair few of the 1st-gen AC EMUs weren't the prettiest in my opinion- 307 cab ends looked like an afterthought, and the 304/305/308/504 family were decidedly rough *runs for cover*

The 303s and 309s though? PHWOOOOAAARRRR!

I hate Southerns 456's (soon to be with SWT), they look like they've been cheaply thrown together. On the other hand, my favourite would have to be the Class 442 :)

Freight loco I don't like would no doubt have to be a Class 90, but I have no idea why. Class 70 is probably my favourite, something about them appeals to me!

High level jumpers with a corridor connection don't look too bad- see the 455s, even the plated over Southern ones. But on the 456s they rather mess with the clean lines of the 321/322 front end.

The only trains that are truly ugly are 380's and MPV's. They are so ugly its embarrasing.

I never understood how so many can find the 90 ugly.

Characterless maybe, as they haul their freights quietly, but ugly ? I seriously think not - especially compared to those corrugated iron sheds.

I am surprised it has come up so many times.

At least no one has suggested 37 yet - all agrees they look great. Unless they are painted in that drab, dreary WCR brown.
