Ticket irregularities/refusals to paywhat does the "VE" mean? being nosey
What you quoted is what it means - it's a code for that reason.what does the "VE" mean? being nosey
Not a cancellation but must have had them scrambling for stock without a fault maybe View attachment 74268
Not exactly ad verbatim but “more trains then usual needing repairs” is one of TfWs frequent excuses for a cancellation.
But I take it this was the Northern service with the mention of Leeds and Stalybridge.
Was it taken at one of the Manchester stations?
Saperstein.

There would be something terribly wrong with the system if it wasn't foreseen - it happens often enough!I particularly like the fact that there is a code to accommodate "passengers not having valid tickets" as reason for cancellation. Clearly it is a foreseen circumstance.
Naming no names, but if it catches on in some parts of the country, nothing will run at all!

My favourite: This train has been cancelled because of the train making extra stops because a train was cancelled
Have I read the RTT extract correctly - the train was cancelled throughout - i.e. passengers without tickets were intercepted at the originating station? At first glance at the thread I assumed it was cancelled en route owing to a delay caused by police attendance or similar. This implies that inspections started before departure, but, without any travelling taking place is a ticket technically required?
I think Greater Anglia use 'a fault with the signalling system'And Northern as in #Post 10 and TFW mentioned already in Post #11 and to those you can add GWR
Why is “more trains than usual needing repairs” seen by some as an “excuse”? It’s a perfectly good reason!
Yesterday, I had to send out a 4 vice 8 Class 387 formation as one 387 didn’t make it off it’s B Exam in time for morning service, instead of the 4 units we can have on maintenance we ended up with 5 leaving us one short for traffic, so that “excuse” is actually spot on.
As usual the armchair experts with their ‘tin-foil’ conspiracy hats on, obviously know better!
Which still plays as ‘A shortage if train crew’ at their stations!TFW have replaced train crew shortage by "Resource Availability" thought to be at Union request.
