Due to an Engineering Overrun last night which left some points out of order for much of the day, there were unusual operation of train services. It was not possible to run through the station to and from the Hereford direction. Trains from Manchester towards Cardiff and West Wales Wales used Platform 7 and turned back towards Manchester and trains from the South ran into Bay Platforms 5 and 6 and formed a southbound service back resulting in passengers having to change trains. TFW Journey Check reported nothing in relation to this so it doesn't seem to have affected all trains.

According to RTT, Gerald (Mk4) managed to run through normally southbound this morning.
Northbound tonight was a 175 which terminated at Chester.

Geralds don't use the Crewe route .1W96 was pre-planned to be a unit last night to retain the stock at Canton in readiness for the additional Mark 4 set starting Monday. A 5T96 ran from Crewe to Chester to re-start 1W96 and and place a set at Holyhead ready for Monday. No swaps possible in the north over the weekend due Engineering Work.

So is it 2 Mk4 sets each doing 3 legs from Monday?
That's a pretty good uplift if so.
It's a pity (most of) the tourists have just gone home...

Yes. It's been well documented for months if not longer and has nothing to do with tourism but is a normal Timetable alteration replacing DMUs

Were hoping to start May last year but route clearance, staff training and COVID put paid to that date
