Would anyone know where there are accurate up to date lists of the Metro and trams fleets please?

My lists are ridiculously out of date and I'm hoping to get back over this summer after all that disruption from the "minor virus incident"... with so much stuff having moved lines on the Metro and with all these new tram lines opening I'm not entirely sure what's where any more...!!

A few notes about the Paris Tram networks and the fleets below.

Lines T1 T2 T3 T7 T8 T9 T10 are normal standard trams.

Lines T5 T6 are Translohr trams.

Lines T4 T11 T12 T13 are tram trains.

Note that the trams on lines T4 T11 T12 T13 are tram trains and therefore they also have four twelve digit EVN mainline numbers per tram (one for each section) but i have only included the normal tram numbers in this list as the simple number of the whole tram on the front (the one with the TT prefix) is much easier to identify when spotting them than looking at those complicating EVN numbers.

All of the lines are served by a single type of rolling stock except line T4 which uses a mixture of Alsthom Citadis Dualis trams and Siemens Avenio trams.

Trams on line T2 are normally operated in multiple with two trams coupled. Trams on lines T11 T12 T13 are sometimes operated in multiple too. The rest of the lines only use single trams.

Line T10 and T12 are yet to open. They are opening this year. But the trams have been delivered and testing has started.

Tram numbers 720 721 722 723 724 725 726 727 728 729 730 731 will be twelve new Alsthom Citadis 302 trams that are being built for the extension of line T7 to Juvisy which is under construction.

Let me know if you have any other questions at all about this.

Thank you; that's brilliant - now I can update my haulage hit list with the newer stuff... :)

Just a question regarding the Paris Tram line T3 fleet. French wikipaedia suggests that the most recent order was for 10 new trams (364-373). Other sources suggest it was for 9 new trams taking the fleet to no. 372 as listed above. Can anyone confirm which is correct?

No worries. Yes the Paris Tram networks have expanded massively in recent years. I visit Paris at least every year and sometimes a couple times a year and every time that i go there are some new lines that have opened or new extensions that have opened.

There is a lot more new stuff opening soon too. Brand new lines T10 and T12 are opening soon. Also on lines T1 and T3 and T7 and T11 there are new extensions that are being built which should open fairly soon.

One other thing to mention is that RATP have placed an order for thirtyseven new Alsthom Citadis 305 trams for line T1 which will start to be delivered at some point soon. So now is a good time to go and tick off the TFS trams if there are any units you have still not been on. All of the TFS trams will be scrapped once the new units get delivered and enter service.

I always find the Paris Tram network quite unique. It is very different to any other French city where the tram network is one combined network and serves the city centre. With the Paris Tram network it is thirteen lines that are operated completely independently of each other and most are unconnected and it goes nowhere near the city centre.

Yes i was confused by that too. I can only assume that it is a typo. If you look at one of those French Wikipedia articles it states 372 but then it the chart below it states 373 instead. So i can only really presume someone that accidentally typed a "3" instead of a "2" on the page.

All of the information i have seen states that the last order was for nine trams. Even the official news article publication on the RATP website stated nine trams. So it seems it was definitely nine trams that were ordered.

The only other possible explanation would be if perhaps a tram was damaged in an accident and at some point recently they had decided to order one extra tram. But i can find no evidence of this. Number 372 is the highest tram i know of and i can find no records or photos of a 373 anywhere.

A further extension of line T3 is being built and will open soon at the end of this year. It has been stated that an additional eight trams are being built for this. However none of these trams have been delivered yet so 373 can not be one of these.

Thank you, and I'll be updating my haulage hit list shortly. I do already have all the existing trams on T1.

Below is a screenshot of part of my Paris haulage hit list, showing the Tram and Metro part of it which will make it clear why I needed up to date lists before I do my update!

The other stock in the area I can update easily as I have just bought the new French numbers book from Platform 5.

Yes I think 373 and the number 10 for the new order is probably a typo, french wikipaedia is usually pretty good for tram and metro info but I'm sure the odd mistake can occur. I haven't any immediate plans to return to Paris but will do later in the year and will keep an eye out on T3.

I was over there earlier this year and tried to do some T2 trams from La Defence, but the crowds were such that I stood little chance of getting on any of the trams. I think I chose the wrong time of day and the wrong location! I'm pretty sure I saw one T2 tram running as a hybrid, sorry didn't note it down, but they had a fairly big smash in February 2019 (info from french wiki) so it looks like they've used some of the undamaged cars to make up a set.

The rolling stock on Paris RER line E is in early stages of being replaced by the new generation double deck 130m long sets being built by Alshom.

Just been announced that another 60 sets have been ordered (taking total to 131) for use on RER lines D and E. Eventual target is 130 sets on line D and 125 sets on line E

Quite a lot is happening ahead of Olympics in Paris in 2024

On more general French tram update, Alsthom has also announced new Citadis trams for Toulouse (9 trams), Brest (8 trams), and Besancon (5 trams)

Many thanks. I was wondering about this. I have found conflicting information whether 13 or 14 trams have been built for the new T10 line. Some of the various press releases and news articles say 13 trams and some say 14 trams so i was not sure. English language Wikipedia claims 14 trams. French language Wikipedia claims 13 trams. I have no idea which to believe. I guess once the line opens (in just under a month) we should know for sure if no 1014 tram is ever seen. From all of the photos i have seen so far i can not find a 1014 tram but there are only limited photos as the line has not yet opened to passenger service.

The last one to arrive at the depot was 1013, together with a statement by the transport authority which said it was the last delivery.

Thank you for the confirmation. Much appreciated. In that case i shall remove 1014 from my database now. I wonder if there was originally 14 ordered before they changed the order to 13 which may be the reason for all of this confusion and conflicting information online. But that is good to know there is only 13 of them. It will save me searching for a non existent 1014 when i visit the line next month. Many thanks.

A few tram notes from a flying visit through Paris this week,
Line T2
A hybrid set is running with the M2 driving car from set 401 and the M1 driving car from set 416. (today coupled with set 414). Possibly these are the two good cabs after the accident mentioned previously. Also three i think heavily cannibalised centre cars are visible at the depot.
Line T3
Full peak cycle viewed on T3b and highest seen was 372, which fits with the theory that 373 does not exist, not proof though.
Line T6
Surprised to see a tram numbered 629 in service. Checked numbers inside and out and found to tally. It doesn’t look any newer than the rest so may be a reformed set? Any info would be most welcome.

Doing a bit of research, yes tram 629 has been around for a while (at least since June 2022). However the fleet is always quoted at 28 trams. So 629 could be a later new build?

The only line 6 tram not seen in the last 12 months is 610, so if 629 is a renumbering then it must have previously been 610 (seems unlikely) That would be disproved if anyone has seen tram 610 in the last 12 months?

Tram 602 has been burnt down a little while ago during the 2023 riots.

Hi all, does anyone have an update on the line 11 MP59 withdrawal please? Given the rate at which they were leaving in June, I'm fully expecting them to be gone within 3 weeks' time.

Off peak on 11th August there were seven new units and two old units out, but a lot of old units stabled for the peak.

Now, that's August with the reduced service levels in place - but I'd suspect the proportion of new to old is probably broadly similar at the moment. If you're after a last ride on the MP59s, I'd strongly suggest the morning and evening peak are your best bets.

Can confirm that, as of this weekend, there are still at least three MP59 trainsets in service on Line 11-6069, 6077, 6088.
MP73 in squadron service on line 6.
